Illegal Alien Who Killed Nun Was on Obama’s Supervised Release
Judicial Watch ^ | February 28, 2013

Posted on 02/28/2013 10:50:31 AM PST by jazusamo

The deadly results of President Obama’s “supervised release” program for illegal immigrants were exposed long ago by a Judicial Watch investigation of a Bolivian national (Carlos Martinelly-Montano) who killed a Virginia nun in a drunk-driving accident.

A Homeland Security report obtained in the course of JW’s probe details policies and actions of the Obama administration and local governments that allowed Montano, an illegal alien who committed a series of crimes, to remain on the streets despite being subject to deportation. Rather than detaining Montano, federal authorities determined that he was a candidate for the Alternatives to Detention (ATD) program, which supposedly monitored his whereabouts.

On August 1, 2010, while under the influence of alcohol, Montano crashed his car into another vehicle, killing one nun and critically injuring two others. Last year he was sentenced to 20 years in prison, but the fact remains that the tragedy never should have occurred. Federal immigration authorities never should have freed Montano under Obama’s outrageous “supervised release” program.

Incredibly, the administration continues full throttle with the controversial program. Earlier this week, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) released “waves” of illegal immigrants detained in facilities across the nation. The administration claims that impending budget cuts forced the move and in a statement to the media ICE said the detained aliens have been placed on “an appropriate, more cost-effective form of supervised release.”

A mainstream newspaper well known for its pro Obama reporting called the move a “highly unusual effort to save money.” Then, as if to defend the administration, the story goes on to say that the government hasn’t dropped the deportation cases against the immigrants, but rather the detainees have been freed on supervised release while their cases continue in court.

A congressman from Virginia, the state where the drunk illegal alien killed the nun, called Obama’s early release program “abhorrent.” The lawmaker, Bob Goodlatte, also chairs the House Judiciary Committee and says the administration is “needlessly endangering American lives by releasing criminals into communities.

Negligent homicide, perhaps all the way up to the White House.

Same thing under Bush when he failed to enforce border security and immigration laws, while promoting Shamnesty with McQueeg and Grahamnesty.

The best way of looking at this is like a prison break, in which thousands of criminals have escaped and made good their escape. And the administration’s response is to say, “It’s okay, they were just low security prisoners! We aren’t even going to try and recapture them.”

This guy did or did not have a valid DL? Stolen vehicle or owned the vehicle? Insurance? I think not. They should sentence him to living in chicago.

That’s a good way of putting it but I would add it’s like the prisoners escaped with some inside help in the first place.

Data point: The Free Lance - Star newspaper of Fredericksburg, Virginia, buried this wire service story in the back of its pages in a small blurb. It also hid the fact that the perp was an illegal.

The editor of this rag of a wire service outlet is Ed Jones. Your local incompetent/fraudulent news editors should be called out when they knowingly distort and manufacture news, as in this example.

This is a good example of why we need to give drivers licenses to illegal aliens. Illegal aliens without valid drivers license are bad drivers, they drive drunk, and they kill American nuns on the roads. If they had a valid drivers license they would buy insurance, they would not drive drunk, they would stop killing nuns, and they would become responsible drivers. Don’t you see the logic? /s

Willie Horton/Dukakis redo.

There is a difference. The media was upset with the Willie Horton story, but they reported it.

Now they simply won't report it.

No, silly, they don’t want them to have DLs to drive better.

They want them to have DLs so they can look enough like good citizens to the voting officials.

Nuns beware.

My sarcasm took over that message.

Logical people have no representation in this government. The few officials who are logical are so overwhelmed by prevailing stupidity it’s laughable, but then not funny at all.

Oh, but ICE officials assure us these aren’t “really” criminals, just unfortunate waifs in search of a slice of the American Dream.

And they wouldn’t lie to us..would they?

The libs are fond of substituting the term “undocumented” for “illegal.” My question is... if they’re “undocumented,” pray tell how is it we’re to know what crimes they may or may not have committed?

Exactly, we don’t know.

Another thing that rings my bell is labeling them as immigrants. Those here legally are immigrants, those here illegally are aliens.

Outrageous is precisely the right word, my FRiend and thousands is surely more correct than my hundreds.

The cowards responsible for releasing them won't give true numbers, they say hundreds but I'm sure that's a lie, I understand it's a nation wide thing.

Greta on her show last night discussed the latest wholesale release of ILLEGALS .
Her guest was an ex Judge and his and her interpretation of this latest release was a Judge has to sign a person into prison and a Judge has to sign a prisoner out. The warden or any other person other than a Judge cannot release a prisoner.
So in that sense what you are saying is correct and it is a “prison break” and hence illegal, thereby whomever released them is guilty of major crime(felony).
Soon we will hear of many arrests, as AG A-Holder will be working “halffast” and furious./S

These criminals will take refuge in "sanctuary cities" and other places where Obama lapdogs (such as Deval Patrick) rule over the populace.

Sadly, these deaths occur all too often on top of the thousands of injuries as well as assaults and molestations of young people by criminal illegal aliens.

Then along comes a president and his bureaucrats that can't wait to release this scum back into our society after having captured them at least once, some many times.

In my view it makes them as guilty as the criminal illegal aliens committing the crimes.

They are poking real Americans in the chest, backing us up to the edge of the abyss and only 2 things can happen.

The Republicans have more than enough for impeachment starting with Fast & Furious, unconstitutional war in Libya, arming our islamists enemies, birth certificate, SS card, Selective Service registration, Benghazi, refusal to enforce immigration laws, ...

The GOP will be remembered in history as the party that could have stopped the destruction of the Republic but decided to stand by and watch.

That can get fuzzy. Were they prisoners, as such, or detainees? In effect they might be in legal limbo, such as in a situation of Customs and Border Patrol detention when someone is detained at the border.
