You NEWBIES have NO respect for your elders.....get some manners.

Maybe he wouldn't have to if you'd act respectably, AA.

The point seems to be that you are butthurt by the fact that some bloggers aren’t getting press credentials.

I think humblegunner was beaten up by a blogger at some point in his childhood. How else to explain that he constantly acts like poo-flinging monkey on crack whenever the subject comes up?

It's people like humblegunner who limit that utility of Free Republic to be a source of information, what with his every effort to ensure that only MSM sources find a home here. Quite frankly, I've found myself drifting to other sites over the past year, specifically because of idiots like hg.

I think the problem that some here have with bloggers is a valid one, ergo...that they only seem to be interested in getting “hits” on their blog sites, which is revenue-driven, in many or most cases.

This forum is for information purposes, but it’s also for like-minded conservative “moral support”. Conservatives can come here and be around those they agree with and those that agree with them....and share opinions while getting ‘informed’.

If you’re a blogger and you have some information to share or post, you can post it without linking back to your personal blog. No need to pimp your blog with every topic posted.

So the principle of taking issue with this tacky blogger practice is sound. Perhaps it’s the delivery that leaves a bit to be desired....lol.

I’m not a blogger, but I think the whole idea of “sharing” info on someone’s personal blog “just because” is communist. I love how people on FR are not socialists, except when they are.

Uh....the “tacky blogger issue” has nothing to do with socialist or communist. Nada.

But thanks for playing.

You do bring up a great point - gunner is maniacal about anything to do with blogs, and here, he was so off the hook that he missed the ironic poo he stepped into. And he stepped into it up to the top of his noggin.

He would have no doubt blown Michelle Malkin and Andrew Breitbart off in the early days because they were mere “bloggers” or “internet writers.” And yes, all this kind of attitude does is empower the professional conservatariat - in other words, the establishment and the main stream media types. Is that really who we want to empower?

You know, I was so irritated by Ann’s failure to understand the intellectual point — that it totally escaped me what she had done...which was to be very bitchy at me for no reason, then complain when I dared replay back in kind.

Thanks for reminding me....and Ann...that SHE started this unprovoked, and all I did was return fire. Got that AA? You did start a fight, and then whined about being in a fight.

Believe it or not, Michelle Malking used to write for the Seattle Times.

Because most seen here are plagiarists with self delusion problems.

He would have no doubt blown Michelle Malkin and Andrew Breitbart off in the early days because they were mere “bloggers” or “internet writers.”

Research will reveal to you that I did indeed do so.
I would again. Upstart posers need to be challenged.

Otherwise we could end up with homeless smacktards
writing blogs while stealing unsecured broadband.

When your medium is the sewer, one must expect filters.

Believe it or not, that has NOTHING to do with her newfound success....totally irrelevant, and therefore, superflous to this discussion.

If you’re the filter, you need to be changed. Filters start to have an odor after a while....

HG, your response was so absurd that it deserves so many responses...and it almost seems as if you would brag about being the coach who cut Michael Jordan from the team in high school, or the program director who fired Rush Limbaugh, or the book agents that refused Stephen King. I mean, being a naysayer is the easiest thing in the world to be, and yet, you revel in it.

I think they make a pill for that now.....

Believe it or not, her work as a writer for the Seattle Times may not have anything to do with her success now, but it did have something to do with her success as a syndicated commentator, with a wide range of newspapers across the country. Heck, her column was even in our local leftwing paper for a couple of years. She would never have been given the opportunity to syndicate if she had not first worked for a major newspaper.

All of which is totally irrlevant to her career now, something she just validated not 20 minutes ago......

You know, that *is* probably what he wants to do. There are always going to be some folks out there who lackie up to those they perceive to be in power, regardless of any other factors. HG strikes me as being that sort of individual - doesn't think for himself, doesn't want anyone rocking the boat, doesn't want any challenges to his (self-given) authority to be the "blog police" on FR. Like I said previously, this actually ends up hurting FR in the long run, because people who actually want to find alternative sources of information that extend past the MSM and National Review Online will go elsewhere. FR certainly doesn't have a corner on the market of conservative internet information, and if FR tries to act like a gatekeeper, smart people will just phase FR out of their daily web routines.

Personally, they'd be smarter to just leave the filtering out of the truly drek blogs away from the good ones to Freepers themselves, and stop worrying about whether some bozo gets five hits off a post on FR.

Oh noes! Bloggers iz stealin' bandwidth that could be used by perfectly good left-wing MSM sources instead!!!! What's we gonna does???

Seriously, Edmund, you can get more real information from Hotair, Ace of Spades HQ, and Renew America in one day than you can get by picking through the dumpster here at FR for a week.

If the Navy had listened to humblegunner, they'd still be working on attaching copper plating to our brand new 85 cannon ships-of-the-line.
