Excerpted from ABC News: Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano had no part in a decision by underlings to release illegal immigrant detainees as a way to save money before the sequestration and was surprised to learn about it, Napolitano told ABC News in an exclusive interview.
“Detainee populations and how that is managed back and forth is really handled by career officials in the field,” Napolitano said.

She could be telling the truth. Maybe 0bama picked up the phone and ordered the jailers to let them out.
The order to let the illegal criminals go was sent out from DHS LAST WEEK. If Big Sis is such a poor manager of her department that she doesn’t find out about egregious decisions such as this, she is incompetent and should be fired.
That does not address the wholesale release of a bunch of suspected illegal aliens (NOT "undocumented workers"). Knowing the tight-fisted control Zero puts on all his people, something like this (political) HAD to go past her. Must have been done in a way for her to deny culpability if the SHTF.
Now they will lay low and see if this blows away ("Can't we just get past this", ala Clinton). If not, some underling will be "fired" and the "media" will move on.
OR
The "media" will be presented with some other "interesting" story (bomb an aspirin factory, maybe?), and the horde will chase after that.
This stuff is too predictable.
Either that or her department’s sequester savings could be had by simply eliminating her position if she’s that unnecessary.
I just cannot help but feel that Napolitano’s office must be chaos with the unknowing leading the unwilling to do the wrong things especially related to self-defense, Second Amendment, and terrorism....when they cannot even speak the word “terrorism”. What’s that all about? Is this government sailing without a rudder? Or really preparing to start a civil war with the people?

The phrase “handled by career officials in the field” is exactly what I would have expected to hear at the Nuremburg war crimes trials. It is the inverse of “just following orders”.
