David Cameron is acting in a "hurtful" way towards traditional Tory voters by imposing social change through "diktat", a former Conservative frontbencher warned as the party embarked on an inquest into its poor showing in the Eastleigh byelection.
As Tory MEP Daniel Hannan called on the party leadership to reach an agreement on "common ground" with Ukip, the party that forced the Tories into third place in the byelection, Eleanor Laing called on the prime minister to lead a "truly Conservative government".

Republican party wobblers on the social issues, take heed as to what has just happened in England: the “Conservative” party just got shellacked in the elections.
Notice the Tories have REAL conservatives in the party, but they aren’t supporting the party apparatus. The “leadership” of the party is trying to force the celebration of sodomy on the nation....and that doesn’t set well with the people.
Now, I do not think most of the Republican leadership is pro-sodomy...but there are enough shaky knees (see: Ileana Ros-Lehtinen) that this article bears posting.
A simple question that should be asked here: How many people voted for the Tories because they wanted Gay Marriage legalized?
Likewise, in the US: How many people vote Republican because they want tens of millions of Illegals to be able to vote against their interests?
