DENVER (CBS4) – A popular hunting shotgun could be banned under one of the bills moving through the state Capitol.

A pump or semi-automatic shotgun is the gun most hunters in Colorado use. It’s a gun state Sen. Greg Brophy, R-Wray, says could be banned under a bill that’s already passed the House and Gov. John Hickenlooper says he’ll sign.

We could tell the Taliban that all democrats are really Israeli Mossad agents .... That’s as decent as they deserve.

Ah yes, I remember it well.

And to think, in 1962 Thomas J Dodd and Emaual Cellar proposed the first federal law on common firearms.

1962; “We don’t want to take away your guns, we ONLY want to register handguns! Rifles and shotguns will not be affected”.

1964: “We only want to register all your guns, not ban them! Only Army surplus guns will be banned.”

1968: “We only want to register your guns, and ban “Saturday Night Specials” and small foreign handguns along with army surplus rifles!” (They got the ban on 5 shot army surplus rifles and handguns and small foreign pistols)

1970: “We only want to ban Saturday night specials! large handguns and rifles will not be affected!” There was also a call at this time to ban all private possession of ALL GUNS.

1976: “We only want to ban all handguns! Long guns will not be affected!”

1980: We only want to control handguns! Long guns will not be affected!-statement by HCI.

1981: “The NRA should give up their handguns, and they can keep their rifles!”- Lee Grant on GMA

1984: “We must ban “assault Rifles, unsuitable or hunting!”

1989: George Bush bans import of foreign made “assault rifles”.

1992: Assault rifle ban passed by Clinton.

2000: first calls to ban single shot .50 cal rifles...

“Except the public in NY supports him. Even though his approval rating has dropped, it’s still 55-60%. So you’d be attacking governors that have public support.”

For conservatives to believe that they’re going to have an impact on preventing gun-grab legislation from going forward in the blue states — we’ll, they be pipedreamin’…

I’ve posted numerous times since the Sandy Hook massacre that we will see the blue states trample each other in a race to see which one can become the most restrictive on gun control. This is playing out now. The article above reports that one house of the Colorado legislature has passed a very restrictive piece of legislation and the governor has already indicated he will sign it. Will the other half of the CO legislature stop it?

Just within the past two days, a very strict bill has passed one house of the Maryland legislature, the governor has indicated his willingness to sign, and the other half of the state legislature is almost certain to pass, as well.

Those who think the New York state law could be repealed, well … more dreamin’ for you. There is a possibility the state courts _could_ overturn the law, but that’s too much of a gamble to count on as a certainty. Chances are, the NY law will not only stand in the courts, but any efforts to “improve” (or repeal) it will result in MORE restrictions on gun owners, not less.

We are seeing the “American Divide” grow deeper and wider with the gun control struggle. It’s going to get worse, but the argument over the Second Amendment is going to become perhaps the defining moment of that split.

Just as before the first Civil War, the states are segregating themselves into “free states” and “slave states”. In the [red] free states, citizens enjoy state governments that seem (I chose that word carefully) to still respect traditional values and freedoms — even as the DC government continually siezes more power to itself, and chooses to ignore the Constitution.

The blue, “new-slave” states are falling into lockstep with the demands of the DC government. That which the feds won’t take, they will.

And just as in the decade before the first Civil War, it has become obvious that if one resides in one of the “new-slave” states, the only chance for freedom is to get on the “underground railroad out” to one of the red/free states — because so long as you choose to remain in the blue state, you WILL be a “slave” to their demands.

Something else I’ve been thinking about the last few days. One of the “sparks” that set off the first American civil conflict was the Dred Scott decision of 1857. Alone, it was not the cause of the war, but it certainly gave “fuel to the fire”. I doubt that the first war could have been avoided, but after the Dred Scott decision, it became all-but inevitable.

I can’t predict just what the “next Dred Scott” is going to be. But I sense that there is coming, perhaps not-too-far-off, a twenty-first century Court decision that will drive a wedge between the red/free and the blue/new-slave states with an impact similar to the 1857 Scott case. With an impact so powerful everyone will understand that, front this point, there can be no “going back”….

Deo Vindice!

“They started in the late 1980s, now Colorado has been completely Californicated. Californicated beyond all repair.
Sure glad I got the hell out in time. “

Hey Tupe, just looked up Hickenlooper. He was born in Pennsylvania. So I guess in his case at least, Colorado has been Pennsylvanicated! Really, this stupid mantra that all things bad come from California is just laughable. You should start offering solutions rather than crying in your beer. As a native-born Californian, I’m happier than you that you’ve left us. BTW, are you originally from Tupelo, MS? Been to that little $h!thole town a couple of times. If it haddn’t managed to be Elvis’ birthplace no one would know or care that it even existed. Tupelo, home of the outhouse and “Old Coon Dog Cemetery.”

“out of staters basically fund the state wildlife agency.”

I had to deal with the Colorado Dept. of Wildlife (DOW) when a cougar was killed by a man doing forest reclamation work. The animal whacko nuts wanted him jailed and claimed a cougar could only be shot for killing livestock, not for killing a pet.

A Wendy Kefauver-Ring (name is probably spelled correctly) was so outspoken in her demand for DOW jailing the owner of the dog that I asked for a copy of the necropsy on the cougar.

The sweetie at DOW told me it would be months before it was available. I then reminded her that my request was covered by the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) and her response was a criminal violation, misdemeanor level.

Then, and only then, did she tell me it would be available in the morning. As the Trough Feeder handed it to me she said, “You do realize this is political dynamite.”

The DOW Trough Feeders were working with the animal whacko crowd to let the poor victim of the cougar attack be lynched in the media so that the animal whacko groups could fund raise.

The whole thing backfired. The Sinapu group went under and the DOW Trough Feeders had to admit the shooting was legal.

Seems when the Cat Ladies heard DOW took the position that they could not shoot a cougar trying to kill poor lil’ Fluffums they sent so many emails attacking Sinapu that the server on the Sinapu account crashed. So did Sinapu’s fund raising ability and they closed down for good.

DOW took one look at the firestorm of criticism they had helped stoke and ran for cover clucking like chickens.

Oh, I almost forgot. Seems that the dog owners response was similar to the Cat Ladies. Big difference is that hound owners are armed and in a position to do on-site, real time, cougar attitude adjustment therapy.

Unfortunately, boycotting Colorado hunts will only hurt conservatives. The problem in Colorado is laired up in Boulder, home of Boulder Dementia Syndrome(BDS).

Colorado has allowed too many Liberals and social parasites to move in and vote.

Let the once Westerner Coloradans suffer and be disarmed by the Denver/Boulder axis of collectivism - they worked long and hard to reach the level of socialist degradation they are about to inflict on themselves.

Besides, their socialism is about to drive good industries to conservative states.

;-)

Colorado has a population of 5,187,582 but only 2,571,778 voted in the 2012 election.

It's hard to believe that there won't be major reactions to this in the Colorado state elections in 2014 and 2016.

I had no doubt that they would eventually come after hunting arms.

But of course.

1. Ban the guns that aren't "needed" for hunting, insisting that that they are much more lethal and dangerous.
2. Ban everything else, insisting that there is functionally no difference between the banned weapons and those used for hunting.

Yes, I figured so.

You must have missed the training module on how to remain “undercover” on the sites that you go on. (Lol!). You might want to brush up on your techniques a bit.

Since the majority of the most recent murderers who inflicted large death tolls on unsuspecting victims are known to be either registered democrats, or children of registered democrats, maybe you should toddle off to the Democratic Underground site and do some reconnaissance for the administration there.

As usual Road Glide, your post is very interesting, insightful and certainly food for thought.

In the [red] free states, citizens enjoy state governments that seem (I chose that word carefully) to still respect traditional values and freedoms

Yes, but one problem here. Those red states are also mostly in the south and closest to the southern border. The very red states we are counting on to stand for traditional values and freedoms are quite literally, being overrun by Hispanics who do not share those values at all. How long do you really believe Texas will remain a red state? Arizona? In less than a generation those are very likely to be blue states. Unless this self segregation really accelerates and conservative voters flock to red states in great enough numbers to overcome the explosive growth of the liberal Hispanic masses, I am not sure even solid red states can survive.
