Obama's Now Added $6 Trillion to the National Debt
Weekly Standard ^ | March 2, 2012 | DANIEL HALPER

Posted on 03/02/2013 1:22:01 PM PST by grundle

Since President Barack Obama took office in January 2009, more than $6 trillion dollars has been added to the national debt.

"Without fanfare, the Bureau of Public Debt at the Treasury Department quietly posted its daily debt report showing the total public debt of the U.S. government topped $16.687 trillion. (To be exact: $16,687,289,180,215.37)," reports Mark Knoller of CBS.

"On January 20, 2009, the day Mr. Obama took office, the debt stood at $10.626 trillion. The latest posting reflects an increase of over $6 trillion."

And debt is expected to increase by nearly another trillion this year. "Nevertheless, the Office of Management and Budget projects the national debt will continue to increase by over $800 billion this year and by amounts in the range of $500 billion to $800 billion in the out years - all of which will add to the national debt."

It's an historic achievement for Obama, CBS notes.

"It's the largest increase to date under any U.S. president. During the eight-year presidency of George W. Bush, the debt soared by $4.9 trillion."

The Republicans need to gain control of the Senate or the House and stop the Obama spending.

There’s no question about it: he’ll have to be stopped somehow.

Obama is not done yet. $6 trillion and counting.Sequestration must seem like waterboarding to this guy. Sort of like a shopaholic having their credit cards cancelled That $6 trillion figure doesn’t include the damage the Prince of Paper, Bernacke, is doing with mega printing of dollars. Where are the adults? The United States is populated and governed by fools.

Obama has the dubious distinction of having spent more money than any other Human Being in History.
And he has nothing to show for it.
At least the Pharaohs left Pyramids in their wake.

He will be remembered as the man who spent our country into oblivion. it will be debated for years to come on whether or not it was intentional. You think Bush was a spender? I’ll show you some real spending.

This was all planned in advance. Someone here (I think) reported that they ended up in a meeting with a bunch of rat big wigs and they were told that billions of dollars would be coming down the pike upon zero’s election.

Impossible to scoff at this now.

All that crap about zero going through the budget line by line...etc etc. what crap. He was sent there to benefit his friends and break the rest of us.

He hasn’t spent one dime that the Republicans in the House have not signed off on.

I meant since the Republicans took the majority in the House. Guess I needed to clarify.

I'm not defending the House Republicans, but they've only been in the majority since Jan. 2011. It's the continuing resolutions that have allowed Obama to wreak havoc. The House Republicans have signed off on those. That's where they've failed, IMO.

LOLOL!!!!

He & Mooch are terrified he’ll have to let go some of their bloated support staff. I heard once that they have someone on full time for movie selection! I guess this guy just awaits a request and then munches in the WH kitchen!

I think 8 years of him will be worse than Jimmie!

“All that crap about zero going through the budget line by line...etc etc. what crap. He was sent there to benefit his friends and break the rest of us.”

Did you ever wonder why the House Republicans do not go through the budget line by line?

Perhaps they should do that instead of voting for all the current spending and then claiming they have nothing to do with the out of control spending.

Yes, I have wondered about the House Republicans. It's the GOPe....the one that didn't want Sarah Palin who I believe was trashed because they knew she wouldn't play the corruption game. One of the most charismatic political figures since RR underwent unthinkable insults while the people who should have protected her either helped the trashers or looked at the floor.

The problem is that they are likely to keep up the Keystone Kops act and give the whole shebang back to the Dims.
