Hopefully, John will check his messages soon and get the problem fixed, but until then, the temporary workaround is to go to Account and My Preferences and set 20 messages per page and 20 results per page:

Sorry about the problem,
Jim
Bump, we should all bump this thread on a regular basis so people see it (it won’t take long for it to get 20 views down).
No matter what, we’re thankful to have a place to come and discuss issues, vent, network with others and see that we are not alone out there. Thank you.

Done and it works.

20/20 isn’t helping for me.
Time Machine could not complete the backup.
The backup disk image "/Volumes/"hummingbird's first and last real name here" Time Caps/"sister-in-laws first and last name here"
MacBook Pro.sparsebundle" could not be accessed (error -1).
Please tell me I didn't kill the "Internet Machine".
Please...(whimper)....
Anything I can do or just call Geek Squad tomorrow?
Is there a MAC *ping* list?
TIA!
I seem to be having trouble when I post, it takes an
inordinate amount of time to come back. But, if I
refresh the site as my homepage it’s quick and the
post is already there. Kinda wierd.
I did what you describe all day yesterday when I posted comments. It was the only way I could get a comment to appear. The little wheel just kept going round and round and I sat there...staring at it, until I pressed ‘refresh’ and found the comment was already posted.
INFURIATING!
What I notice is that I go to ‘My Comments’ and see only about the last 15 posts.

Does this have anything to do with my profile page not fully loading? I thought that was on my end, so I cleared my cache and cookies. It didn’t help.
BTTT!
you are not alone. I too see that.
Same here and no sidebar. All pages are truncated too.
Perhaps the new server(s) and SSD drives are being installed now and this is just an artifact from the activity. The new server and faster drives should certainly speed things up considerably.
It worked. Thanks Jim!
bump!

We’ve been through this...and much worse. But like the kittehs we love, we always lands on our foots. No worries.
Jim, am noticing truncated last post in nearly mid-sentence on comments page, and word is incomplete. Also seeing some encoding at end of comments page. Have seen these twice also the encoding. Once was around Nov. 28, 2012. Did not stay fully the day data was gobbled and Nov. 28, 2012 do not hold a time line for that day though on or about that day of Nov. 28, 2012 was when noticed encoding at end of comments page and truncation on comments page, and the temporary fix went into and onto what I was doing and I have not modified those settings of 20s and sidebar since on or about Nov. 28, 2012. Did not recognize a problem till FR was down the last time down when data was gobbled and new server was purchased. Saw something and maybe the day is incorrect for time-line I kept during the time FR went down having data gobble problem, but if this is similar to data gobble prior to going down, I know how to contact you to share if you think John should know. Praying she holds.
Noticed some coding on short pages too.
Am keeping what I find in a file off FR. It may not help to copy the coding but every clue helps, or so I have heard.
(it wont take long for it to get 20 views down).

Not that it matters or provides a lot more views but 50 per page seems to work also.
interesting ... just saw a minor fluctuation in the amount of comments on the comments page. It quickly returned to prior amount after hitting refresh. Weird.
Ditto!
You are in SO much trouble now!!!
I’d start the Kiss-Up going, el pronto, so you at LEAST get a card next Christmas.
Heh
If you click on the “Activity” tab at the top of articles, at least the sidebar appears.
This is America, and in America, we dont careen from one manufactured crisis to another.

Thank God, some people are
Nope. We can’t blame Laz.
This one John owns.
Betcha if Mom baked a batch of his FAVORITE COOKIES he’d be answering his emails. Oh yeah.
FYI regarding post per page problems......
I’m just messing with John.
And no....I did NOT see where Anoreth was “blamed”?!?!?
BRB if I’m not kicked off the forum by then. ;}
Me no findy.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, Deport. I set Preferences to 20 and it seems to have solved my issues with the missing sidebar blocks; and, now it alloww me to be able to click thru to the next page of comments when there are over 20 of them.
Mucho gracias!
Am over here trying to locate hummingbird. hummingbird wanted to take the blame. I think it goes much deeper than anyone knows. How deep I know not. Think there is a problem on the web and there is more going on than any of us know. Have a theory but theories are only theories. I’ll say something if some facts come up but this is troubling with the web having hiccups.
The Army, Marines, Navy, and Coast Guard hate that joke. Since I am outnumbered I fully expect the Army, Marines, Navy and Coast Guard to beat me to pulp. The Air Force is not called Fly Boys for nothing.
I changed
these settings....but they didn’t seem to help...yet.
“Thread Pagination
When viewing a thread, a limited number of messages are displayed per page. You may choose how many messages you wish to display per page.
20 messages per page”
“Browsing
Choose the number of threads or comments to return.
20 results per page”
“The other day was weird also. Saw something which I saw just before we went down before. Was like a glitch developed on the entire web. Have seen that glitch twice now.”
A deja’ vu is usually a glitch in the Matrix, it happens when they change something.
I don’t get the joke and running “20 messages per page it is to much trouble to go back and look. So I must post with out reading it first.
Poetry of Lewis Carroll
A SEA DIRGE
THERE are certain things - as, a spider, a ghost,
The income-tax, gout, an umbrella for three -
That I hate, but the thing that I hate the most
Is a thing they call the Sea.
Pour some salt water over the floor -
Ugly I’m sure you’ll allow it to be:
Suppose it extended a mile or more,
THAT’S very like the Sea.
Beat a dog till it howls outright -
Cruel, but all very well for a spree:
Suppose that he did so day and night,
THAT would be like the Sea.
I had a vision of nursery-maids;
Tens of thousands passed by me -
All leading children with wooden spades,
And this was by the Sea.
Who invented those spades of wood?
Who was it cut them out of the tree?
None, I think, but an idiot could -
Or one that loved the Sea.
It is pleasant and dreamy, no doubt, to float
With ‘thoughts as boundless, and souls as free’:
But, suppose you are very unwell in the boat,
How do you like the Sea?
There is an insect that people avoid
(Whence is derived the verb ‘to flee’).
Where have you been by it most annoyed?
In lodgings by the Sea.
If you like your coffee with sand for dregs,
A decided hint of salt in your tea,
And a fishy taste in the very eggs -
By all means choose the Sea.
And if, with these dainties to drink and eat,
You prefer not a vestige of grass or tree,
And a chronic state of wet in your feet,
Then - I recommend the Sea.
For I have friends who dwell by the coast -
Pleasant friends they are to me!
It is when I am with them I wonder most
That anyone likes the Sea.
They take me a walk: though tired and stiff,
To climb the heights I madly agree;
And, after a tumble or so from the cliff,
They kindly suggest the Sea.
I try the rocks, and I think it cool
That they laugh with such an excess of glee,
As I heavily slip into every pool
That skirts the cold cold Sea.
Thanks Rebelbase. I wonder who is monkeying or what is monkeying to cause the glitches.
I doubt the Coast Guard is included in the original version of that joke.
At least the Air Force consumes enough money that the rest of the world doesn’t constantly forget about them.
