BBC ‘used licence cash to gag Jimmy Savile victims’

TWENTY Beeb staff who quit over sex harassment and bullying were gagged with licence payers’ cash, it was claimed yesterday.

Bosses even tried to stop them testifying at a probe — set up after the Jimmy Savile scandal to make it easier for BBC sex case victims to come forward.

The group was forced into silence after signing pay-off deals.

One who left recently raged: “Taxpayers’ money is being spent to stop me talking about discrimination against women in the BBC.” Another was axed 10 years ago after reporting bullying.

She recalled: “I’d shield staff from shouting and intimidation.”

On leaving, she was barred from raising it with anyone save one named relative.

And yet, somehow, the authority of the BBC as an organization is never called into question--unlike, say, a certain Church I could name.
