Lauren Silberman's history-making NFL tryout ended disappointingly quickly.
Silberman, the first woman to take part in a regional scouting combine sponsored by the NFL, suffered a leg injury and had to withdraw after just two kickoffs.
She pulled up after managing just 19 yards with her first kick-off and then 14 yards with her second effort.

She may not have been a superstar on the field, but she was a real Hit, in the locker room.....probably at least as popular as the women now on submarine duty.

I think this goofuss also said today that field goal kicking really had nothing to do with distance . . .
But 19 and 14 yarders? Unless they put the goalposts on the 25 yard line (kinda’ like they do with women’s tees), she ain’t gonna’ make it.
First of all, who told her, with her range of 14 to 19 yards, that anyone in the NFL would be slightly interested?

there are girl high school kickers who can do better
I remember a high school in Georgia who used a girl for extra points. She was good but that is not really saying anything as most extra point kickers do OK.
The thing which set her apart was that she was smoking hot. She played soccer and the entire soccer team for the most part were absolute babes. I mean 9’s and 10’s and I am a tough grader.

I remember my own high school back in the 60’s was full of beauties. I began to wonder if it was just my imagination. Were they really as pretty as my memory had them?
A couple of years ago, I got out one of my old annuals and boy, they may have been even better than I thought. Several were prettier than most movie stars.

Did ESPN authorize a first-name only for her in reports on similar to “Danica”? How about her own scroll at the bottom of the screen?

My son played on that team, undefeated season in largest class in GA. She was good and could make 40 yd FG at best. She went on to become first female to kick extra pt in college FCS game. She was also homecoming queen and looked the part.
Yeah, what was her technique? Did her butt or boobies jiggle, or what was it that displayed a technique that would be more important than the length of the kick?
Kinda' like last week's celebration of Danica-the-Loser coming in 8th and gushing all over her for a week . . . 8th place . . . it took 7 guys to beat her . . . This week, she came in 39th . . . it took 38 guys to beat her . . .
It's a shame that anyone had to pay any attention to either one of these clowns.

Perhaps she thought some team would want a kicker who specialized in onsides kickoffs? She certainly has the range for that. :=)

Better she got hurt now than later when one of those 275 lb. linebackers hit her ass and hey had to carry her off the field.
But what if there’s a fumble and she needs to recover it or tackle someone?
This particular girl was a natural blonde and she played soccer. She played aggressively and looked like she could take a bit of being knocked around but of course not even close to what a large boy could dish out.
She probably would have been OK if it really was just an accidental hit as most of them are when the kicker is hit.
If some huge strong guy came through and just laid a hit on her, well that would be very unfortunate.
That sounds a lot like this girl but I don’t think it is the same one. The reason is her team was not undefeated. They were pretty good and were in either the largest or next to largest class in Georgia.
These women watched to many movies where women kicked men's asses.

I'd take my chances one on one in a room with a woman anytime than a man. especially if it were down to knees, elbows and knives.
Agree. DP may put people in the stands but, given the equipment and preferential treatment she has received, the results on the track are, at best, mixed. Unlike the concept of women in combat, I have no objection to her being out there; what turns me off is the obsession with someone who has never earned it. I'm sure there's going to be a very successful femal driver someday, but I doubt that it will be her. But at least it's entertaining to watch her throw other drivers under the bus for mistakes that she makes on a regular basis.
She started racing at the age of 10. When she turned 16 she moved to England to start racing open wheel cars. Her success got her noticed by Bobby Rahal who signed her to a contract.
She won the 2005 Indy 500 rookie of the year, won the Japan Indy 300 and had numerous top 5 finishes in her Indy car career. In 2009 she finished 5th in points, which was the highest of any American driver in the series.
She's earned her way.
She's obviously a talented driver. However, she is also an over-hyped driver who has thusfar excelled at self-promotion.
You are entitled, but you aren't entitled to your own facts. How many NASCAR drivers have won an Indy car race? How many NASCAR drivers have never won a Winston/Nextel/Sprint Cup race?
Here is one;J. D. McDuffie held the record for grit and perserverance. In 29 seasons, he started 653 Grand National/Winston Cup races and never won, not even once. He died in a crash in 1991.

So your argument boils down to “I’m going to demonstrate that she’s earned it by pointing out drivers who are even more unsuccessful.” Very impressive! /sarc
BTW, I don’t recall McDuffie ever having anything like the Stewart-Haas team backing him. In fact, he was the quintessential small-time operation. Again, thanks for making my point....
