Bedbugs are on the rise again in the U.S., which means business is booming for pest control companies like Orkin.
With increased travel, both internationally and domestically, and higher bedbug resistance to existing pesticides, Orkin has seen an almost 33 percent boost in bedbug business compared to 2011.
The company has just released its rankings of U.S. cities in order of the number of bedbug treatments from January to December 2012. The Windy City of Chicago tops the list, followed by Detroit, Los Angeles, Denver and Cincinnati.

How were bedbugs repelled from our shores before the Dept. of Homeland Security started allowing them to overwhelm the borders?
Thousands of worthless , insidious, blood-sucking parasites.
And those are just the ones in Chicago government.
Yeah, I was gonna say, where else would one of nature’s parasites feel they were among similar company, than Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles ....
HA...yeah....parasitical cities....the cities we avoid like the plague!
I stopped sleeping in hotels years ago. Forget the bedbugs, sleeping a room that has served as the bedroom thousands of other people is just not appealing. We take our room with us...in tow.
I’m not keen on staying in hotels, either, but then I hate travel in general. When a nurse I know said that she wondered if the person who slept on the pillow before her might have had TB, that made me shudder.
As for bedbugs, I read somewhere that the drug used in heartworm prevention meds for dogs (ivermectin) might kill bedbugs, too. Why not put some rats (or Democrats) on ivermectin and send them into the rooms to sleep? Tell them it’s the newest freebie, the Obama-Lounge.
Life in a Sanctuary City. Chicago also high up there in hit and run pedestrian deaths caused by drunken, uninsured, unlicensed motorists.
“Chicago Is Top City for Bedbugs”...And cock roaches of the human type.
I view large cities as pestilential to the morals, health, and liberties of man.
I’ve heard that the Wookie infestation has moved from Chicago to Washington
Two of the country’s top ranked parasites come from there, so what did you expect? (oh, and bedbugs, too, apparently).
Why not? With so many rats I’d expect other infestations as well.

Yes... I know... we have one for President.
