What’s the point? He’ll probably end up voting for him anyway, like he did Hagel.

I think his vote for hagel was more of an in your face, upside the head slap at the republican leadership for not supporting his vote to NOT allow cloture. Had they supported him, hagel would not have been confirmed. He was very angry.

Brennan, a fluent speaker in Arabic and convert to Islam, will run the CIA.

What could possibly go wrong?

Rand Paul is talking about Fusion Centers now. People on the lists from the Fusion Center in Missouri included people with bumperstickers supporting pro-life, supporting a third party, supporting border security, supporting the Constitution.

Go Rand Go.

Is our imminent CIA Director John Brennan a Muslim?

Has anyone asked?

There is reasonable speculation that he was converted during a long stint in the Middle East.

Since the primary opponent of the CIA these days are Islamists, whether the imminent CIA Director is a Muslim becomes a VERY REASONABLE QUESTION.

Is John ‘al-Quds’ Brennan a Muslim or does he ‘just’ sympathize with them? Caroline Glick provides the answer to this all-important question (Hat Tip: Dan F).

But I think the question of whether or not he is actually a Muslim or just an Islamophile is just as unimportant as his hippy days learning to love Islam. And by the same token, I think that it is unimportant if Obama is or isn’t a Muslim. I don’t care whom they pray to.

The question is whether their world view, and their policies would be any different if they were Muslims. And I think the answer to that is no. And since it is their policies, not their beliefs that matter to the world, they should be judged for that.

Aside from his hippy past, and his horrible, obsequious Arabic, the thing that made me most uncomfortable about Brennan’s whole paean to Islam is the fact that he said “Palestine” twice and never said Israel, and when he finally felt compelled to say Jerusalem, after saying “Al Quds” twice he sounded like he was either going to spit or apologize for mentioning the word Jerusalem in the presence of his audience. So does it matter if this man is a Muslim or not? Not in the least. He’s just as dangerous either way.

I wonder if Obama will bring him along for the visit. Can’t wait to welcome him to JERUSALEM, YERUSHALAYIM, the capital of the JEWISH people for the past 3,000 years. Oh, and his advisers should probably mention to John Brennan that the name of our country is Israel. There is no such country as Palestine. And there has never been a country named Palestine. Perhaps one of the senators could mention that to him during his confirmation hearing.

Not true. She gets trashed by at least one poster every time McCain stabs us in the back because she endorsed him for reelection. As if that was what got him over the top (it wasn't).

I saw that, but there was more to the story. That was what they chose to rest their case on. He had been fighting with the leadership to stop the nomination from coming to the floor and they refused to join him or back him.
AFTER the vote, he stifled himself a lot, but if you read the other things he has said about it, you will get the general idea that he lashed out at the leadership and that is what drove his vote which didn’t really matter in the end anyway.

I've been contacting my elected Reps for so many years, that their numbers are worn off my telephone. Unfortunately, the ruling class no longer have staffers - for the most - personally answer their DC phones. I guess they figure we'll tire of hearing their recorded "leave a message" message and give up :(

Spoken like an ignorant unAmerican bigoted troll. Article 6 of the U.S. Constitution ensures there will be no religious test for any office or public trust.

There are plenty of reasons to oppose Brennan but his faith would not be one. Ditto Romney, Obama or whoever else doesn't fit your particular religious inclination.

I dunno. I think the days when she was routinely compared to Ronald Reagan, Spartacus, Winston Churchill, Betsy Ross, Sgt. Alvin York, Paul Revere, etc., etc., etc. without even the faintest hint of irony, are long gone.

If and when she runs again, I suspect she will make a couple of moves toward the libertarian side of the GOP, and then you will see some of the kitties uncover their claws.

Big Government: Rand Paul Filibusters Brennan Nomination
"If there was an ounce of courage in this body I would be joined by many other Senators," Sen. Paul said. "Would you tolerate a Republican who said I like the first amendment, I don't plan to violate the first amendment, but I might," he asked rhetorically. He then turned the question around and asked if Republicans would tolerate that sort of vaguery with regard to the 2nd amendment.
It appears Senator Paul has chosen his hill to die on.

There are plenty of reasons to oppose Brennan but his [Muslim] faith would not be one.

Oh, absolutely, because there is no reason for any American to be concerned about Islam. /SARCASM

The Constitution, as awesome as it is, is not the Bible. I'm sure it never occurred to the Founders that Islam might ever get a sizeable foothold in the USA, otherwise, they might have excluded Islam from the protected religions list.

The main problem with Islam, and the reason it SHOULD pose a concern for all Americans, is that it is not just a religion - it is also a political ideology, with its own designs for governmental structure. In that sense, it should not be viewed as merely a religion, and therefore the "no religious test" rule should not apply.

I'll give you an example: In our past, we tried to keep communists out of government because its political ideology was incompatible with a republic. Now, let's say some enterprising individual decides to add a religious aspect to Marxism. He says that God, or some god, commands a dictatorship of the proletariat, that this god says that the way to serve him is for each to give according to ability and each to receive according to his need, and that this god demands that a single party be set up to rule all men without restraint, and that this party can kill indiscriminately if they judge it useful, and that the peons have no rights.

Would we be then obligated to avoid excluding communists from government because communism is now a religion? It's the same ideology either way, but now we are suddenly obliged to welcome it because someone added the word "god" or "allah" or "flying spaghetti monster" or whatever?
