In response to Rand Paul Filibuster Inspires HuffPo to Blister Obama Over Drone Policy:
This morning, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, was able to get Attorney General Eric Holder to admit, (after much hemming and hawing about "appropriateness") that it was unconstitutional to kill a US citizen on US soil with a drone strike, providing that American terror suspect does not pose an imminent threat.
Via Sean Higgins of The Washington Examiner:
Cruz took the opportunity of Holders appearance this morning before the senate Judiciary Committee to ask about the government stance. If an individual is sitting quietly in a cafe in the US, in your legal judgment, does the Constitution allow a US citizen on US soil to be killed by a drone? Cruz asked, adding later the qualifier: If that individual is not posing an imminent and immediate threat of death or bodily harm.
It took Cruz close to four minutes to get Holder to admit that such a strike would indeed be unconstitutional.

I’m liking this Cruz fellow! The country could use a bunch more cut from the same cloth.
Now I hope Ted can go over and help out Dr Paul with the filibuster.

He is my senator. I have met him. Have pictures with him. He is a great man!
Mr. Paul is doing quite well, and needs the exercise. It’s Boehner who can’t hack it, as usual.
He’s somewhere in front of a mic whining, hand on hip, probably, about furloughing any White House staffer and he needs a lunch break. It’s all too much.
Halls,
I was just wondering if you’ve ever met Senator Cruz.
Pan_Yan
Yes, I like what he is doing but he shouldn’t run for president. His father was a terrorist.
I heard he was a great man.
We need more information. Someone on FreeRepublic must live in his district.
I think he has...multiple times.
;.)
It’s “unconstitutional”, but “what difference does that make”?
These people believe they should be free to exercise their “discretion” in spite of anything the Constitution says.
So if the Government deems that the individual poses an imminent and immediate threat, it is then Constitutional to take them out?
Am I missing something here?
Whose father was a terrorist? Do tell!
That’s what I was thinking. Someone needs to help Paul.
Cruz is on now!
He is on C-Span2 now doing his part. I have called the office of my senator, who just happens to be Ted Cruz, and also Rand Paul today to thank them for their courage and tenacity. I hope they both keep it up so maybe some other Congressmen and Senators will muster up the courage to do the same. This is what we need! I’m so proud Ted Cruz is my senator! He is an inspiration.
Cruz's father escaped Castro's Cuba, eventually went to college, and is a Southern Baptist minister.
But thanks for the laugh.
He is a US senator for Texas and replaced Rino Kay Bailey Hutchinson. We are happy to have a real conservative in the senate now. I was proud to vote for him twice. Primary and general, unlike the dim who admitted to voting for 0 bummer six or more times.
Ditto!
Cruz is a senator! His “district” if all of Texas!
I’m only getting bits and parts of the filibuster. Ted Cruz is helping Rand Paul out. Who else I wonder? Has the Bush wonder boy, Marco Rubio, stood up?
Give me a government run by Cruz, Rand Paul & Allen West and I’ll die with a smile on my face!
Eric has never cared much about the Constitution in the past, don’t expect him to care in the future.
I called Cruz’s office too. It was while he was busy taking it to Holder in a meeting.
Wouldn’t it be hilarious if Rubio showed up with bottles of water???!!!!! hhahahaha
Bingo! This little caveat is a hole these fascists would drive a truck through. These people have made it clear they consider us to be almost immediate threats. This is no effin protection at all.
These f**kers will shoot us on the street and then ignore all the spineless congressional attempts at "investigation".
Cruz made a stop at our GOP HQ during the election and they didn’t even send any communication to us that he was coming, I found out about it in the paper the next day. I was dissappointed to miss him.
No, absolutely not. He did NOT escape Castro’s Cuba - that’s the meme that they tried to use, just as Rubio did. In fact, his father was part of a leftist revolutionary group in the 1950s and he emigrated from Cuba PRIOR to the Castro takeover in 1959, just as Rubio’s parents did.
“Cruz made a stop at our GOP HQ during the election and they didnt even send any communication to us that he was coming, I found out about it in the paper the next day. I was dissappointed to miss him.S”
The establishment GOP is never going to promote the likes of Cruz or Rand Paul or Allen West. Not while Rove & Norquist are in charge of the GOP.

See my post to Lone Star, above.
You are right for the most part but where I live Cruz has a lot of support, I think it was just a matter of not being organized locally. I’m not pointing fingers, I was just dissappointed.
You mean Kay Barely Republican?
Interesting. Do you have a link for that background?
I’m no fan of pro-amnesty, kindergarten-talking Rubio, but Cruz has impressed me so far and I won’t hold his father’s politics 50+ years ago against him.
Thanks Rusty.
I remember sitting in a dorm room, about 1960, in TX having arguments about whether Castro was what he turned out to be ...or not.
I don't remember much about it but wonder now if Obama is more open now than Castro was at the time.
You must have read that on the internet, so it must be true...
Were you dropped on your head as a child...?
I read it in an interview with Cruz in an Austin newspaper. He admitted it when he was presented with the evidence of the date of his father’s arrival in the U.S.
So because Ted Cruz father was a a Cuban revolutionary he is not qualified to be POTUS ?
You do understand many people in Cuban was fooled by Castro...?
Anyone who was arguing about what Castro was in 1960 was deficient in information. Castro led an armed insurrection of radical leftists in 1953 - which failed. He was apprehended, tried and jailed, and then let free in an amnesty less than two years later. He was always a thug and a bully.
Nobody with a hot potato in their history should run for president, because the opposition will find it and use it. Cruz made a big mistake when he tried to pass his father off as a victim of the Castro regime. Now there is a public record of that lie.
