Police chiefs are not “in the front lines”. They are ass-kissing politicians.

Politically-appointed, long-withdrawn from useful service police chiefs are on the “front lines”?

WTF?

Love how they’re targeting Republicans rather than the Red State Dems who are up for reelection in 2014.

That alone is proof positive that the Giffords are engaged in partisanship, rather than honest issues advocacy. Go after Republicans instead of putting vulnerable Democrats at risk.

Of course liberals have no respect for human dignity, these are the same people who favor late term abortion..no one has ever asked Giffords if she was SO terrified for her life before the shooting, how come at her little event she didn’t have ONE security guard protecting her..perhaps if there had been someone armed at her event the shooting would have been prevented..instead she had those people as sitting ducks..I feel bad that Giffords was shot but my sympathy went out the window when she and her hubby went after our 2nd Amendment rights, oh and blaming Sarah Palin for what happened

Gabrielle Giffords is not doing this.

People are doing this in her name.

Using her, Using her incident, for their own schemes.

She is just a tool being used by people who to extend their own profit making. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Americans for Responsible Solutions will happily accept donations I am sure.

The ads include black and white images after high-profile mass shootings at a Colorado movie theater and a Connecticut elementary school.

How Tasteless...

The gun killed those people. It wasn't the person who was doing the shooting. Giffords, STFU, Please!!

Lanza got the gun from his mom's safe. She had the guns locked up.

Sad to see her used like this.
This is what the left does.
What does our side do to counter it?
Both the people who did these shootings were nuts.
That is the real problem.

Mark Kelly from the moment Gabby was shot blamed Sarah Palin for the shooting, that is when I saw what a despicable piece of filth he is..couldn’t even wait 5 seconds to start blaming Sarah Palin, Republicans, anyone else but the shooter who was obsessed with his wife..he is the one that runs the show in that household, he tells Gabby what to say and she repeats it like a puppet and the media goes awwwwwwwwwwwww when she talks and repeats her talking points

I remember before the shooting Giffords was on MSNBC going on and on about how the Palin map was putting her in danger..yeah such danger that she had an event with ZERO security..if I were any of the families of those victims killed I would have sued Giffords for putting them in danger..yeah she felt SO threatened, and yet had no security at her event, wide open, for anyone to come..yet she had the nerve to blame Sarah Palin for what happened..disgusting, the both of them, Giffords and Kelly, two peas in a pod

Background checks would have made no difference in the Newtown case- he killed someone and stole their guns.

Aurora Colorado I’m not sure, but I think there was nothing in the guys background that would raise a flag.

This background check nonsense is designed to do one thing, ban legal private sales and start registering people.

That is the opinion of my brother and I as well. Kelly is beyond reprehensible in my opinion. If he wants to run around himself because of what happened to his wife, fine. (I could even somewhat understand his motivation if he chose to do so). But pimping her around everywhere is disgusting.

I’d like someone to ask Giffords if she knows what a gun is. Then she should describe a gun and explain how it works.

I don’t think she’ll be able to answer that on her own.

Dude that shot her would have passed a background check. He had a blank, thus clean, record. He never had a mental health evaluation until after he shot Gabby, even though in hindsight he should have. The problem wasn’t dysfunctional background checks but dysfunctional mental health services. Fix that, taking care not to go too far and impinge on the rights of the mentally healthy. I don’t claim to have the recipe, but it needs find a good balance between to maximizing the rights of majority, who are (ignoring last November’s data point) probably mentally well; protect that majority against those who are dangerously mentally ill; and, ideally, provide help to those mentally ill who are unknowingly risks to themselves.

***No, but we hear from Brady’s wife about that incident, when he was shot with Reagan, All. The. Time. ****

It has always been about handguns. Assault rifles are just a decoy to try and get their anti-gun foot in the door.

Once they get a ban on AWs then they will use the same reasons to go after handguns.

John Kennedy killed with a 5 shot bolt action rifle.

Charles Whitman, killed 14, wounded 32 others mostly with a bolt action 6mm hunting rifle. Also used a shotgun and an m1 carbine.

Medgar Evers, shot with a 5 shot 1917 bolt action Enfield rifle.

Martin Luther King, shot with a 4 shot Remington 760 pump action Gamemaster rifle.

Bobby Kennedy with a .22 Iver Johnson Cadet revolver.

George Wallace wounded with a 5 shot Charter Arms .38spl revolver.

Howard Johnsons shooter killed nine, wounded thirteen with a 4 shot RUGER .44 mag Deerslayer rifle.

Gerald Ford attacked with a 7 shot 1911 semi auto.

Edmond OK post office with two National Guard 7 shot 1911 pistols.

Ronald Reagan and Jim Brady with an RG-14 .22 revolver.

What do they all have in common? NONE over 7 rounds, yet after each one came a cry of panic to ban all of them.

Nelson T. ‘Pete’ Shields
Founder of Handgun Control, Inc. (Now THE BRADY CENTER)

“I’m convinced that we have to have federal legislation to build on. We’re going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily — given the political realities — going to be very modest.

Of course, it’s true that politicians will then go home and say, ‘This is a great law. The problem is solved.’ And it’s also true that such statements will tend to defuse the gun-control issue for a time.

So then we’ll have to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen that law, and maybe again and again. Right now, though, we’d be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice. Our ultimate goal — total control of handguns in the United States — is going to take time.

My estimate is from seven to ten years. The problem is to slow down the increasing number of handguns sold in this country. The second problem is to get them all registered. And the final problem is to make the possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition — except for the military, policemen, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors — totally illegal.”

-Pete Shields, Chairman and founder, Handgun Control Inc., “A Reporter At Large: Handguns,” The New Yorker, July 26, 1976, 57-58

“Yes, I’m for an outright ban [on handguns].”

-Pete Shields, Chairman emeritus, Handgun Control, Inc., 60 Minutes interview

HCI now wants to ban certain rifles, something they said for years that they would not do. “Long guns will not be affected.” Well, now they are.

The thing is, she was an absolute nobody before she got shot. Nobody outside her district had ever heard of her, and I’d venture to say that half the people IN her district had never heard of her before the incident. And deservedly so.

Now, her every utterance is supposed to be taken as the Word of God?
