If there's one thing that's good in California, it's that there are no or very few Citgo gas stations out here. Citgo is the Venezuelan-owned oil company who decided to fly the American flag at half-staff in Houston, Texas to mourning the death of Hugo Chavez. Yes, our flag is being flown at half-staff to mourn the loss of a socialist dictator.

Here in Florida we managed to get Citgo kicked out of the Turnpike plazas and most 7-11 stations aren’t branded Citgo any more, but I don’t know who they buy their gas from.

Cowardly bastards.

Ready to sell America down the river inexchange for remaining part of a government/industry power structure.

This really ticks me off!

The majority of Americans could care less. They readily and willingly buy from and support foreign owned companies and manufacturers.

Welcome to gov’t owned industries.

They do not have a choice.

I am surprised the US flag is not at half staff at the White House.

My recollection is that our flag flew at half staff when Winston Churchill died.

Why not Chavez too ?

Churchill was a hero in the minds of most Americans in the 60’s

I think Chavez is regarded well by a near majority of today’s Americans and especially by our president.

I stopped buying Citgo gas years ago, but for most people if it’s a penny cheaper than the station across the street they could give a crap where it comes from.

Citgo flies American flag at half-staff in Houston to mourn the death of Hugo Chavez

IS that legal?

Who can order a half staffing? •Only the President and state Governors can decide when and how long the American flag should be flown at half-staff. Read more: http://www.gettysburgflag.com/FlyFlagHalfMast.php#ixzz2Mne58rYW

OK...let's do the math here. The POTUS makes $400K/yr.Assume that Federal law exempts the President's salary from *all* taxes, state and Federal. Also assume that the President pays nothing for food, rent, transportation, vacations, spouse's expenses, children's expenses etc. That would mean that after 14 years in office the President might have been able to save 5.6 million dollars.

El Commandante Pocito, after 14 years in office,is worth 2 billion.

Can somebody talk me through this?

True enough. But the SCOTUS *also* says (for the time being,at least) that I can announce from the rooftops "I'll walk...I'll freeze...before I'll buy a nickel's worth of petroleum products from CITGO".

Of course if Osama Obama gets to appoint any more SCOTUS justices that could very well change.Second Amendment...First Amendment...what does it matter? (as the former Twelfth Lady would say)

Just for the record but this doesn’t make it right in the US.....

Citgo is a refiner, transporter and marketer of transportation fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals and other industrial products. The company is owned by PDV America, a subsidiary of Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A.

If Citgo chooses to honor any foreign personage, who does not honor the USA,and that person is of that other Nation let them use the flag of that person’s Nation. This honoring other Nations and persons who bring no honor to the USA should have been ceased long ago.

Turn off the MSM. You're beginning to believe their propaganda.

I will never buy gas from a Citgo.

And this is unacceptable. These people know the recent addition to the food supply for worms was a brutal, lying, communist.

I don't support the issue but only pointing out they are owned by Venezuelan company. They lowered the flag apparently in all their locations. I read where the Lake Charles, LA facility was at half staff also. Here's the Citgo's United States headquarters in the 1200 block of Eldridge Parkway in Houston.
