I am against universal background checks (that was my vote). The Uninformed do not understand that this will lead to eventual registration and confiscation of your Guns.

This part of Arizona reelected Raul Grijalva and picked Ron Barber to represent them in Congress.

Tucson is the blue stain on Arizona’s red dress, so sayeth SandRat.

Cracks me up (in a gallows humor kind of way) every time I think about it.

How about: Are you for vast databases containing personal private information in the hands of corrupt politicians and law enforcement and hackers and anyone else?????

So the government must collect all information about you in order for you to protect yourself and/or your family from a corrupt and unjust government and criminals?

Opinion polls are irrelevant with respect to Constitutional Rights. The President, every Senator and Congressman took the oath of office which reads in part, "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic".

No politician has the right to ignore or circumvent the plain language of the Bill of Rights. Such action is grounds for impeachment.

The above being established, I still voted in the poll.

I added my vote against background checks.

I don’t care if an ex-con gets a gun if he is a responsible owner. In the event he is not, the rest of society should have the means to deal with it.

It’s also none of the government’s business to know who has what weapon. Their only concern should be when the weapon is used in appropriately. Other than that, they should MTODB.

‘Universal background check’ sounds almost as appealing as the ‘Affordable Health Care Act’.. Both wolves in sheep’s clothing. It’s ‘NATIONALIZE EVERYTHING’ under King 0bama, while ever so quietly strangling the private sector and increasing government hiring.

“What is a universal background check anyway? Is it an assurance that a person will not become a crazy loon ten minutes after purchasing a gun?”

No, what it is is a way to harass and legislate a man’s time from him!

After months of researching my next firearm purchase, I located the the weapon at a firearms dealer an hour away. After spending 15 minutes completing the background check questionnaire, I waited an additional 5 minutes for the man to provide information over the phone to NCIS only to be told I was, “Delayed.... Could be 4 minutes or it could be 4 weeks” he advised.

I waited around for another 20 minutes before making the hour long trek back home, (in my Hummer), empty handed.

Can you imagine this scenario playing out between private individuals at a gun show over a weekend? They would effectively be able to stop the sale of private property through their ‘Delay.”

I’m against ANY background checks for firearm purchases. They are useless. The RKBA SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.

If criminals can’t get guns legally because of background checks, they’ll get them illegally, through theft or the black market.

Background checks are a farce. Any criminal can have someone with a clean enough record to pass muster to buy a gun for him. Better yet, he can just steal one from you and me.

The REAL purpose of the background check is a pseudo-registration and database designed to identify ANYONE who purchases a gun. You don’t need to register the gun you just purchased, the background check just REGISTERED ALL OF THE GUNS YOU MAY HAVE simply by knowing that you are a gun owner.

When it comes to disarming the public, they know exactly where to go first.
