Lots of middle school kids from all over the state were visiting when suddenly the Capitol police, the Hartford police and the state police began herding them all into safe areas in the building; a teacher chaperone reported seeing a man with a machine gun on the Capitol grounds.
Six hours later it was determined that the man with the “machine gun” was a videographer with the local CBS affiliate using a long-focus telephoto lens on a tripod mounted camera.
