One of New York City Mayor Michael Bloombergs top gun-control lobbyists in Colorado appears to enjoy firing the very guns he is working to restrict.
Denver-based Headwaters Strategies lobbyist Adam Eichberg participated at a watermelon shoot in September 2012 at the farm of Colorado state Sen. Greg Brophy (R.) where he fired a semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine.
A picture obtained by the Washington Free Beacon shows Eichberg smiling broadly as he shoulders a DPMS .308 rifle with a 20-round magazine.
I really hate watermelons, Eichberg said via email when asked for comment.
Bloombergs group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, hired Headwater Strategies in January to lobby for several gun-control bills under consideration by the Colorado legislature. Those bills would ban the future sale, transfer, or manufacture of so-called high-capacity magazines in the state.
The Colorado-based company Magpul produces the high-capacity magazine Eichberg used, which would be banned under one proposed Colorado bill. Magpul has threatened to leave the state if the bill passes.
It seemed like he had a darn fine time, state senator Brophy said in an interview with the Free Beacon.
While Colorado Democrats have stopped short of proposing an outright assault weapons ban in the state, Mayors Against Illegal Guns has been a high-profile supporter of such bills.
Brophy said it was not just Eichberg who wanted to pop off a few rounds at immobile melon targets. Democratic Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper also asked to be invited to the melon shoot, he said.
To top it all off, a week after we did the watermelon shoot this last year, the governor was out in eastern Colorado doing a bike tour, Brophy said. And the governor comes to my house on Friday night and practically begs to come to my melon shoot next year. A few months later hes in contact with Bloombergs group and planning gun-control measures in Colorado.
Hickenloopers office did not return requests for comment.
Brophy said he is a friend of Eichberg, but could not let him or Hickenlooper slide.
You wonder if theyve had a change of heart, or if theyre being hypocritical like we see in so many politicians where they dont want to live under the laws theyre pushing, Brophy said.
Brophy said he has been holding the annual watermelon shoot for seven or eight years, usually on the third Friday in September.
We do a bike ride, have dinner then go out to the farm the next day and blow up watermelons with various firearms, he said. Its an absolute blast.
Shooting watermelons is one of the most fun things in the world, Brophy continued. It makes a great sound
Looks like a high powered assault AR 15 was not enough fun for the hypocrite Eichberg .
That is a SUPER High power .308 based AR 10.
Why is Eichberg forward of the hot firing line?
Why are there childruns there?
Oh the terror!
Wahazzup with all the ball caps?
Sun in their eyes?
I would be wearing amber glasses in those conditions.
You hit the nail on the head.
The .223/5.56mm AR-15 round is not a “high powered” round....it’s a medium powered rifle round.....don’t use the Anti-2nd Amendment’s mis-characterization it only tilts the discussion in their favor......be swift to correct their demogogery.......We need to control the conversation from the git go......
Socialism works that way.
I have never understood why people bite at the socialist construct.
Things like progressive taxation.
It’s just a scam that holds the guy in the single wide back from ever living in the mansion on the hill.
I think the guy in the single wide with the old Dodge power wagon has as much right to a gun as the fellow in the mansion on the hill with the Bentley.
We need to hone our message.
Because it has nothing do with safety or crime. It’s about control and keeping your throne secure.
BTW - nice pic; that’s going to go a long ways towards killing any credibity or sincerity he has in his anti-gun lobbying efforts.
I was not using that piss poor mischaracterization.
I was pointing it out.
I’ll assume he sits on the Toilet when he goes Pee.
For this guy it is like discovering bowling.
He likes the competition, he thinks the beer burgers and french fries are dangerous because he cant stop macking,
So he comes to the conclusion that bowling is dumb and that burgers and fries should be banned, all the while sipping a high end microbrew that costs $12 the schooner.
That was a bit convoluted, but my point is that at a subliminal level they like what they like. (power and pleasure)
They give us bowling and beer while stripping us of power.
They rob us of ability, and leave us to pleasures that don’t threaten them.
But these people are sick power mad people, they don’t stop there.
They are so power mad that they must strip us of the most common pleasure and grind us down to sin and suffering.
No more burgers or beer.
They mock bowling
They tax us in our meat and in our pleasures.
Hypocrisy is the essence of Leftist dogma.
“Okay for me, but not for thee,” is their creed.
Let God Find HIS OWN!
I really hate tyrants.
