Absolutely right. No one knew it better than the great Arthur Koestler, who wrote “Darkness at Noon”, surely one of the great anti-Communist novels of the 20th Century, AND one of the greatest titles for a novel EVER.
The oppressed , said Koestler, long for nothing more
than to slip into the shoes of their oppressors.
In our time, and unfortunately,in our own benighted nation,
someone like Obama can come along,and far from being truly
oppressed, can make enough of a sneaky case for himself that he should be elected President on that pretext. And he can succeed ,TWICE, in that enterprise.
