If I had planned to speak for 13 hours when I took the Senate floor Wednesday, I wouldve worn more comfortable shoes. I started my filibuster with the words, I rise today to begin to filibuster John Brennans nomination for the CIA. I will speak until I can no longer speak and I meant it.
I wanted to sound an alarm bell from coast to coast. I wanted everybody to know that our Constitution is precious and that no American should be killed by a drone without first being charged with a crime.

I love Rand Paul. He does remind me of “Mr. Smith” (goes to Washington) like Ted Cruz stated.
This is you wake up call. Please do not hit the snooze button and go back to sleep.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we had a choice in the next presidential election? I hate voting for candidate B only because candidate A is an America-hating, fascist dictator.
It better be just the beginning.
Great... At least someone is willing to fight ...
I have the feeling it is going to get worse before it gets better.
Cruz, Kirk and Gomhert were exemplary.
Follow through, Rand....follow through. There is no going back now.
I am ready to fight. Sick of the GOP!
No American should be killed be an illegal, lose his/her job to an illegal or wait in line behind illegals for health care.
Cruz brought up integrity when he spoke about fighting Bush when George Bush wanted Texas to defer to international law. You’ve just got to be willing to do the right thing no matter who is running the show.
This is a great American story. One man, against a wealthy army known as the elite government.
I am glad that some good men have come to his aid and joined.
Cruz is very impressive.
Rand Paul found that his filibuster stepped on the toes of many in both parties.
Apparently, due to the Twittering and similar online rumblings, it has shaken the GOPe, who don’t know how to respond.
And then, there was McCain and his inane comments.
I stood up to my congress critter a few weeks ago and made it to Fox News. He is running for the empty seat of Taxme Shameless.
He wasn’t expecting me to stand up to him and tell him that I was a ticked off constituent and I was not going to take it any more.
An historical note relating to drone strikes on U.S. soil:
“The saboteurs who came ashore on Long Island included two United States citizens who had convinced the Germans they had changed sides. One of them defected almost immediately and turned himself in to the FBI. All eight were arrested and tried before a military tirbunal, and sentenced to death. The six German nationals were executed in August 1942 (having come ashore in June of 1942). The two Americans were sentenced to what amounted to life imprisonment, later commuted to time served and deportation to the American Zone in occupied Germany. No one was executed without trial.”
Please note that 6 of them were German citizens.
I donated to StandWithRand after that.
Obama stole my donation :(
He certainly is.
I could feel my heart drop when I heard on Fox the that mention that Ted Cruz was born in Canada, and as such, would not be able to run for president.
Until we have an opposition party instead of those in charge of the republican party now, we stand no chance.
His parents are both American citizens and were at the time of his birth.
He is not barred from the Presidency.
Obungo’s daddy was not a citizen.
Even the liberal bloggers were cheering on Paul. He hit a nerve when he brought to Americas attention that one man (oboma for now, maybe someone else later), could become judge, jury, and executioner of American citizens. Only in a totalitarian country would one man have the power to kill his own people at will.
McCain is gonna have a heart attack!!!
Can he take Rove with him?
I’m surprised with the criticism of Paul on basic due process issues. If this doesn’t tell you that the left isn’t interested in the constitution, nothing will.
Per Wikipedia, Cruz was born in Canada. His father is a Cuban immigrant to the US and his mother an American. They were working in Canada at the time of the birth.
Is he eligible? Who knows? The ‘natural born’ issue has become so convoluted that it is impossible to know.
McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone of American parents, and he was deemed fully eligible. Romney’s mother was American and his father was born in Mexico of American parents. Romney was born in the US.
And I'm very pleased that Cruz has supported him so vocally. These two are potential rivals for the nomination in four years. That they're working together [at this point] perhaps bodes well.
At the least, it shows class. If that matters anymore.
“McCain is gonna have a heart attack!!!”
McCain reminds me of Robert the Bruce’s father in Braveheart.
But he looks like Vlad Harkonnnen in Dune :-)
The left live in the here and now. They worry about the consequences after the fact and blame it on someone else.
We have got to build momentum. Stop being complacent.
No Bill of Rights. No Bible.
They really are pushing our buttons, aren’t they.
Okay. I was going strictly from what Fox Carl Cameron was saying.
It would not surprise me to learn that Cameron was deliberately lying...
“Cruz is very impressive.”
Yes he is. You have to have the philosophy down cold to be as clear as he is - esp. in his reply to Durbin. Durbin thought he was going to be cute and point out the obvious, but what was obvious is that he hadn’t heard any of the 12 hours preceding him.
Rubio, although I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt, was less impressive - and, I think, for the reason stated - he Doesn’t have the philosophy down cold. Close, but close don’t get you there these days. I can’t see Ted being ‘stumped for an answer’, and a good answer that addresses the issue, rather than some sound bite. Not so with Marco....
BTW I feel about the same for Mike Lee from Utah as I do about Cruz. Club for Growthers..... I want more like that!
Sigh. Cruz is not eligible because he was not born on US soil. The Canal Zone is US soil, which is why McCain is eligible and Cruz is not.
They really are pushing our buttons, arent they.
and they will continue to do so until SOMEONE stands up to them.
~McCain reminds me of Robert the Bruces father in Braveheart.~
“It is exactly the ability to compromise that makes a man noble.”

Bump!
Time for the GOP to stop hiding, stand up and take over.
Yikes. I looked it up. I'm pretty "up" on current events but did not know that. Guess I pin my hopes on Rand at this point.
There's [unfortunately] a long time before the next election, though.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Cruz as my Senator. :D
But, can’t change what is. Cruz should stay on as a Senator and hopefully Senate majority leader.
Considering the fact that Brennan is a Muslim, he would never place his hand on a Holy Bible. He would certainly melt into a greasy spot on the floor.
As a Christian, I know what is coming down the pike toward my country. After standing by and letting millions of the unborn be slaughtered and now this country is sanctioning perversion as normal, we have brought this on ourselves.
It’s gonna get a WHOLE lot worse. In 5 years, you will not recognize this country.
God have mercy on us. We are about to reap the whirlwind!
I don't doubt that. I've been on his e-mail list for some time and he is always busy. He is big on pro-life, civil liberties, government waste and spending issues to name a few. His rhetoric is the strongest I have heard from any pol. Rand Paul isn't looking to take any prisoners.
One also notes that they were deported from the US.
It should probably happen more. Never to set foot in
the continental US.
Wasn’t there a guy that was put aboard various US ships
never to set foot on US soil again? Revolutionary war?
War of 1812? If the ship was bound for the US he was
transfered off shore...I remember reading about it in
school, but that was a loooong time ago, when they taught
American History.
That is from a short story, “A Man without a Country”, by Edward Everett Hale. It’s only fiction.
