More Options Needed For Women ^ | March 9, 2013 | Kathryn Lopez

Recently, a group of women gathered to insist that expanded abortion access be a legislative priority in New York. Why they would feel the need to do so is a good question, one with disturbing overtones.

The state's governor is inexplicably pushing for greater abortion availability in a state where abortion already appears to be quite popular. We used to hear talk of "safe, legal and rare," but now we see numbers that show more than 100,000 abortions in New York each year. And yet advocates of legal abortion are banding together to insist that expanded abortion access remain a part of the governor's "Women's Equality" agenda.

The current proposed legislation has been floating around Albany for years. It's gone nowhere, because New Yorkers know that abortion access isn't a problem in their state. And when they are made aware of the numbers, there's some consensus that they are too high. You'd think we'd take advantage of that opportunity to make some progress. But we have become so accustomed to taking sides or dodging the issue that it has become easy for those with the loudest megaphones to dominate the conversation.

Access has become one of those misleading words like "choice" and "equality," proffered to obscure a radical agenda. But there are people who can help. And whatever our political and moral positions on one procedure or policy or another, we ought to help these people and the choices they represent flourish, instead of pushing them to the margins.

"It is crazy," Theresa Bonopartis, director of Lumina, a post-abortion ministry in the New York metropolitan area, observes about our current conditions. "What we were sold as a bill of goods was the necessity of abortion for the health of women, but this great 'right' has become out of control and more protected than the women it claims to serve."

This debate in New York is happening while the trial of Dr. Kermit Gosnell is beginning just a bit down the northeast corridor in Philadelphia. Gosnell, who ran a profitable abortion operation, is accused of murdering seven newborns and one pregnant woman. The grand jury report sums it up: "This case is about a doctor who killed babies and endangered women." The report detailed gruesome conditions at Gosnell's practice and the horrific butchery he's accused of. It is not, to put it mildly, for the weak of stomach. "Over the years, many people came to know that something was going on here. But no one put a stop to it," the report states.

With that in the background, you'd think we'd be a little more sober and urgent about actually protecting women and considering what we can do for their unborn children.

"War on women" rhetoric shuts progress down. Bonapartis offers: "I think it gets to a dead end because it looks at either the baby or the mother ... we need to address both. Both are loved by God both before and after abortion ... You can be against abortion ... while at the same time offering compassion and help to those suffering."

As commentators continue to voice their hopes that the next pope will follow the doctrines of sexual liberation, I am stuck on a tweet. "Be careful not to make a woman cry, for God counts her tears!" Italian Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi tweeted that Talmudic wisdom as he was leading a retreat during the final days of Pope Benedict's papacy. The next time you hear someone dismiss a pro-life position, be grateful there is someone to count the tears, and following God's lead in trying to wipe them away and prevent more.

I agree, these women should be aborted immediately.

A black baby has a greater chance of being aborted than being born.

It is almost genocide. And the blacks keep voting into power the people who wage war against them.

It is amazing what the perception of free government cheese can do.

I don’t understand why they don’t just sterilize themselves.

Maybe they want to “someday have a child” so that they can abuse the poor thing like a worthless chunk of meat. These animals treat their children worse than a rabid dog. In most of these cases they aren’t even aware of it. They are convinced that the verbal abuse is just a normal part of being a parent.

So we’re getting the worst of both worlds. Dead babies and more abuse.

No idea what to do about this. Evil wins.

Warning, graphic and very disturbing images.

What's even more disturbing is that this is what our country has voted for.

If they loosen up the abortion laws anymore they will soon be killing children at their high school graduations.

Liberals will call it the “57th Trimester”.

The high school kids are already aware of how worthless they are to their parents. That’s probably one of the big reasons for why 80%+ can barely read.

I can’t look at the picture. Too emotional. With the recent massacre in my town it’s even harder to look at these pictures. Some families lost their babies and would do absolutely anything to get them back. Meanwhile, millions of subhuman womyn will literally throw their children in the trash. The ones who are allowed to live are treated with extreme cruelty until they finally decide to leave the house.

Keep in mind that these MONSTERS can look at those pictures and see nothing but a dead organ. They look at the face and arms and legs like we would look at the ends of a surgically removed colon or appendix. These womyn and their male counterparts are NOT human. I don’t think that there is any name for what they are other than the gang-like names that they give themselves.

There is no hope for these individuals. They will hopefully remove themselves from the gene pool at increasing rates and maybe we’ll get to raise the babies in heaven. :(

You need to decypher the code words. “Right to” means a woman can have an abortion without violating a law. “Access to” means that a woman can have an abortion which will be paid for by someone else.

Statement: "More Options Needed For Women"

Response: I agree, clean the kitchen or front room first. We do not need any more leather lunged females leading us into battle.

"As commentators continue to voice their hopes that the next pope will follow the doctrines of sexual liberation. . . ."

The Church of the 21st Century is confronted with the same question asked by Jesus of Peter:

“Who do you say that I am?” - (Matthew 16:15)

We are familiar with Peter's answer.

Then, there is Phil 2:6:

"Although Jesus existed in the form of God, he did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. And being found in the appearance as a man, He humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow."

Today, as the "World" and its "commentators" focus on "doctrines" and political ideologies, may the new Pope, with humility and boldness, magnify "the name which is above every other name" for rising generations.

the expanded access they must be seeking is 2d and 3rd trimester abortions

It take a real speshul (and rare) “”doctor” to abort a viable baby for the convenience of the maternal gestator

I don’t understand why they don’t just sterilize themselves.

In a sense, they are.

Women who are willing to use abortion as birth control are born with a weak maternal instinct. That makes them less likely to want children as other women.

To pro abortion women, children are basically property. While it is possible for such women to decide they want to acquire one or more children, abortion damages the reproductive organs. A pregnant woman who has had an abortion is as likely to lose the fetus as a woman who smokes during pregnancy. Unlike the smoker who can quit to save her baby, a post-abortive woman cannot undo the abortion. Each abortion she has had causes more damage and makes her less likely to carry a child to term or even conceive.

I saw a video of a woman who was upset because three abortions had left her unable to conceive--which she learned when she went to a gynecologist to find out why she wasn't conceiving when she actually wanted to have a living baby for a change. I don't have much sympathy for her; if her maternal instinct was so weak that she fell so easily for pro-abortion propaganda, it's best that her genes are not represented in the gene pool.

We've had two generations of legal and highly accessible abortion. The impact of abortion on the gene pool is showing: around 800,000 abortions are committed each year, down from a high of nearly 1.6 million per year. It is cruel, but a lot of babies carrying genes for a weak maternal instinct have been weeded out of the gene pool.

IVF is counteracting this bottleneck in one sense:

wealthy psychopaths are still able to afford hormone treatment and surrogate parents. Fortunately, it is unlikely that Obamacare will support support this for the poor as well.

The only hope in this case is that the surviving children will resent the birth parents so intensely that he or she will cut themselves off from them in every way imaginable, including ideology.

The long term hope is that civilization will day be finally rid of these animals. I have no idea how this will be possible. We’ve had 10,000 years since the fertile crescent and still no progress on the moral front.

The really scary part is that it is emotionally easier for me to dehumanize the whole lot of them than it is to accept that they are getting away with infant genocide on my that’s almost as disturbing as the killing procedure itself!

We could solve this problem by mandating sterilization with each abortion. No repeat business for abortion clinics, with a reason for many to choose adoption instead.
