DOUBLING DOWN: The Colorado Observer Now Has A Bigger DC Presence Than The Denver Post
Colorado Peak Politics ^ | March 8, 2013

With The Denver Post‘s DC reporter, Allison Sherry, under fire for her conflict of interest by dating a member of the Green Lobby without disclosing that to readers, it’s fascinating to see alternative Colorado publications leading the way on coverage of our nation’s capital.

News today from The Colorado Observer is that they’ve hired a second Washington, DC -based reporter to cover federal issues and the Colorado congressional delegation.

The media environment in Colorado has been weakened ever since the closing of the late, great Rocky Mountain News, virtually allowing Denver Post publisher Dean Singleton to be the sole press baron in the champagne room.

Well, times they are a-changin’. Now a conservative online publication has twice the DC bureau of the state’s flagship paper. Who knows, maybe Allison Sherry will actually show up at the Capitol to do her job now instead of waiting for press releases from the offices of Democratic Senators Udall and Bennet.

The Denver Post is an open joke to most Colorado residents. They have minions in every grocery store literally begging unfortunate shoppers to take their paper...for free...in the forlorn hopes that some low-info voter might actually believe the low-intellect tripe that appears within.

If you want a good time hearing just how bad they are, get to Iheart and dial up KHOW from 5-9 am Mountain Time and listen to Peter Boyles.

He makes mince meat of the undereducated journalist hacks at the Denver Pest.

That is sooooo true, every King Super has an old guy asking if you want the paper, I have never seen anyone take them up on it.

The Rocky Mountain News did have Carla Crowder, who back in the TRT days, was a bit of a pest.

Declining the free paper is fun for us and a shock for them as no one needs the bird cage liner.

Thanks George for the ping. Saw that on Complete Colorado and thought about posting it. She makes a powerful case. It just shows you that they don’t have ANYONE’s best interest in mind. It’s all for power and to destroy everything that this country was founded on. Of course, we all know that. Too bad more people in this country can’t get a clue.

I take the free paper, just for the coupons. But I tell them I'm not interested in subscribing, I would never actually pay for it.

They take that pretty well, I guess they've been told that enough times.

“listen to Peter Boyles.’

Indeed. He is the best locally and writes for the Cherry Creek Chronicle once in a while

We took them up on the freebie and ended up tossing it in the recycle bin without reading it. Oh, for awhile we pulled out the funnies and pawed through the ads.

Got darned frustrated with the idiotic one-sided reporting. Not only did we not like the newspaper we ended up hating it.

We got occasional calls from them after the freebie expired and each time I'd give them an earful and still they haven't changed. I do feel for the carrier who delivered it to our house for a couple of months trying to get our business. It was a never to be and we knew if after the fist week. They kept delivering it even after the freebie expired and we even called them and told them to stop.

I am surprised that they are still in business and dislike them so much that I'll celebrate if and when they close up shop.

Ya. Why don't they change. Lol. It is not like they present both sides. It is all one sided.

They must be making money otherwise they'd be history. Apparently the advertisers still see the value.

Ya. That war on women thing doesn’t count when it is the Left making the war or at least looking the other way while women are being violated.

I remember who idiotic NOW and other Lefties were about Bill Clinton.

If you are a woman, you are on your own if it doesn’t further their agenda.

They’ll end up the lowest part of Dante’s Hell.

Apparently the advertisers still see the value.

That is why they give the rag away. It increases their circulation.

Good point.

And where else can they advertise? The local stations and billboards, I guess
