Washington -- Rep. Dan Maffei, after winning the most expensive campaign on record for a Central New York congressional seat, says it is time to take the big money out of politics.

Despite the millions of dollars in special-interest money spent on his behalf, Maffei says he's ready to change the system and back it up with tough legislation.

At first, based on the headline, I thought the story was going to play up Maffei's hypocrisy on the issue. But, nope, the reliably liberal media treats this as a moment of "enlightenment."

The REAL solution is to eliminate much of the power our congress has stolen from us. Then there wouldn’t be any NEED for people to spend millions to get someone elected. Money in politics isn’t the problem. Power of politicians is.

$12 million spent in Michigan’s 7th district in 2010.

$8 million went to the democrat campaign and $4 million went to electing the republican (Tim Walberg) Naturally the papers were concerned about where the republican got all that money. LOL

If we want to get the money out of politics, we need to eliminate taxes and regulation. Big money won’t have the incentive to buy congressmen if they can do business without harassment.

Taking the money out of politics sounds great until you actually have to BUY things for your campaign. You BUY from private businesses, which have a right to charge for their products in our US Capitalism. I agree that maybe it shouldn’t take MILLIONS, or at least I wish that it wouldn’t. However, TV commercials cost money -— much more money than I had to spend in my campaign. Printing, postage, newspaper & radio ads, gas to go to events, rental for space for events, even pizza to feed the volunteers on the phones -— it adds up faster than you may think.

And, as a Conservative, I don’t have the Unions and their employees or the Media doing it all for me for “free” like the liberals often do.

Whats need is not MONEY but BALLS...

People send(or don’t send) money because they have no balls..
With proper amount of “BALLS”... less money is necessary..

Democrats(progressives) would be afraid to come out of their houses.. with more BALLS clanging together..
A feminized public makes more money necessary to hide the COWARDICE...

Stampeding SHEEP is what progressive DO!!..
Are you a SHEEP?... <<- the question you must ask yourself..
IF SO!.... you were made to get sheared and butchered..
So stop bleating.. lie down and get “processed”...

I have mixed views on this subject.

I don’t want freedom of speech limited, but the vast amount of dollars being spread around is crazy. I don’t trust the media, including Rush and Hannity on this topic because they reap the rewards of unlimited campaign ad revenues.

It is a mess.

I voted for Anne Marie Buerkle.

Wonderful woman.

I voted for Ann Marie also. I really liked her. She was a class act from what I have seen. Her office answered every email I sent. I like that.

On the other side of the coin, Maffei is the type of guy that should be kept away from elected office. He is a typical lib idiot.
