Is Obama Down For the Count?
Townhall.com ^ | March11, 2013 | Kurt Schlichter

Posted on 03/11/2013 1:53:04 AM PDT by Kaslin

We always knew that Obama has a glass jaw, that he can’t take a punch. But it’s a little surprising that he’s started staggering around the ring so soon after November, his approval numbers bleeding away, desperately counting the seconds until the bell rings at election time in 2014 to save him from further pummeling.

It’s also hilarious.

On paper he’s a bruiser. This is a guy who won a knockout reelection bout even though the economy was in the toilet. He hit the GOP with an uppercut over the Fiscal Cliff. He’s got an awestruck media in his corner that is so enamored of him that after his speeches they need cigarettes and cuddling.

And his most powerful asset is the fact that his opponent is the GOP, an organization whose recent track record of success compares unfavorably with that of the French Army of 1941.

And yet now he’s losing. Big time.

The Sequester turned out to be a big nothing. We were told to expect The Road Warrior but instead we got Wall Street. Who would have thought that the market might respond positively to news that the government was borrowing slightly less money from China to subsidize lay-about Democrat constituents’ Cheeto-munching, Judge Judy-viewing, couch-centric lifestyles?

Instead, he engaged in a frenzy of overwrought, dire predictions of zombie apocalypse-level doom if bureaucrats were forced to pare their annual budget increase by a couple percent. But nothing happened. Back before liberals took over the children’s’ books industry and made them all stories about gender-neutral teddy bears that their share feelings regarding global warming, kids’ stories usually had a point. There was this one about a boy who cried wolf with a lesson the President could have learned from.

Compounding this losing streak is the reality that he lost to the Congressional GOP. Think about that. He lost to the Congressional GOP. No one even thought that was possible. Of course, all the GOP had to do was…nothing. It just had to sit there and let the cuts happen. But most observers were pretty sure they would manage to screw that up anyway.

Then Eric Holder got in front of Congress and tried to avoid giving a straight answer to what is just about the no-brainiest of no-brainer questions anyone could ever ask the nation’s highest law enforcement officer: “Hey, is it cool for the government to whack U.S. citizens with Hellfire missiles here in the States?” Holder’s subsequent tap-dancing around to avoid answering with an unequivocal “No” led to Rand Paul’s remarkable filibuster, an event made even more remarkable by the fact that a lot of people who usually suck up to the POTUS came down on the side of the Tea Party hero.

Even the media is starting to get a tiny bit feisty, or at least what passes for feisty considering today’s low bar for press sycophancy. The press got pouty that The One picked Tiger Woods over them. Then Bob Woodward dared defy the narrative, and even a few others came forward with tales of clumsy thuggery by White House pipsqueaks. If these trends continue, sooner or later some reporter may ask him a tough question.

It’s only the beginning of Round Two and already Obama is running out of political capital as the fails just keep on coming. He nominated a guy for Secretary of Defense who managed to both force Senate Democrats to take a vote that their opponents will hang around their necks in 2014 and inflame the Republican squish caucus. The courts dissed him by requiring that when he makes recess appointments, the Senate has to, you know, actually be in recess. Hell, he even lost at the Oscars when the movie about Jimmy Carter, Argo, took best picture over the one he thinks is about him, Lincoln.

Yeah, in the last month he lost to both the Congressional GOP and to President Peanut. Think about that.

And, best of all, his crusade against guns remains the conservatives’ gift that keeps on giving. Obama really thought that his exploitation-fueled campaign against the troublesome Second Amendment was going to succeed and scatter his opponents to the four winds. No longer would liberal legislators be constrained by fear of accountability to voters nostalgic for their Constitutional rights!

Wrong.

Obama ignored the desperate signals of Democrats from the land outside the coastal cities that maybe this was one hornet nest he shouldn’t poke. Relying upon his vast experience with mainstream America gained from years attending cocktail parties with Bill Ayers in Chicago, Obama embraced a radical agenda of banning various guns, standard magazines and registration. But the high-fives among the gun-grabbers were premature.

He might get some background checks, assuming the feds aren’t allowed to keep records of them that could facilitate future stages of the plot to disarm America. He will get some red state Senate Democrats fired, assuming the GOP can nominate candidates whose sole opinion on rape is that they oppose it.

Best of all, Joe Biden took the opportunity to hold forth on his own unique views regarding tactical close combat techniques. Sure, Joe managed to sound borderline insane with his advice to randomly fire buckshot into the air and through closed doors, but in doing so he also reaffirmed the basic principle that individual Americans should use their weapons to protect themselves.

Way to go, Joe.

Now the President is reduced to hitting the campaign trail again, repeating his hackneyed lines about a “balanced approach” in front of staged tableaus of uncomfortable-looking cops and hardhats and…the Village People. Yes, even Saturday Night Live managed to stop sucking-up long enough to satirize his Sequester scaremongering with a parody of “Y.M.C.A”. It would have been “In the Navy”, except all the ships are in port.

Could it be that the President has no clothes?

Obama has always benefited from the respect and deference of his supplicants in the media and popular culture to maintain the illusion of competence. But it’s all an illusion. He’s President Oakland – there is no there there.

He’s failed on the economy, he’s failed on the deficit, and he’s failed in foreign policy. His approval ratings are dropping, as is the GDP. He has swollen the national debt and his fecklessness has led to a Middle East that, against all odds, he has somehow managed to make even worse than before. His sole legacy is a disastrous health care monstrosity that the American people hate and will come to hate even more when it drives their premiums through the roof.

And, worse for him, the House GOP is finally waking up to the fact that it can say, “No.” No to more taxes. No to a cap and trade racket. No to helping Obama win. The GOP hasn’t yet scored a knockout, but there’s no doubt it’s winning on points.

There’s no coming back. Obama just can’t take a punch. He never could. He dances and darts away from his opponent, never engaging directly, not winning himself but waiting for his opponent to self-destruct. It’s time for the GOP to drive him into the ropes and keep working the gut until the 2014 bell rings.

A election win through pure and simple massive electoral fraud does not mean he’ll be able to govern well, it just means all the numbers were against him and they still are.

What we have in Obama is the biggest fraud perpetrated on the american people of all time.

I concur, one of my lifelong liberal coworkers asked me the day after the election why, did I think, Obama won. I told him without a blink, more dead people voted for Oblama than voted against him.

The thought of vote fraud was repugnant to this bleeding heart. The reality is exactly that, the communist/moslum democrats will stop at nothing to win.

Down for the count?

The author forgot one issue.

Amnesty.

Unless the House of Representatives finds some way to stop Obama, Amnesty will pass.

And when it does, Conservatives will be down FOREVER.

No he knew he lost and decided to change visual tactics while at the same time changing nothing except perception. Never listen to what this guy says, just watch what he does.

Obama’s approval ratings and press coverage are still fairly solid. I think the emergence of exciting and viable conservative voices like Ben Carson and Rand Paul are showing up his lack of real leadership skills more than any other reason.

Turns out it was school principals that are no longer constrained by fear. They send home students thinking a bout guns or making poptart pistols or bringing cup cakes with plastic soldier decorations.

The legislators shunned the tactic but the ignorant over PC’s minions believed in the whitehouse emanated crap and screwed them selves.

There are still times when I feel sorry for Baarak. He isn’t an American. He was never taught how our system works. He doesn’t get Americans. He is surrounded by people who are using him. Michelle is a greedy , vengeful gold digger. If she wasn’t with him, she would be the leader of a girls gang. Comeon lets be honest.

I believe that Baarak has to be bewildered because no other dictator gets the scrutiny that he has seen. He has been fed these commie dreams since he was born.

He thought it was going to be a ticker tape parade, for his victory- every day.

I think he is wondering , WTH? I am just acting like king dictator... why are people so mad. Isn’t this what they all wanted?

Nah.

The hardcores will never betray him at the polls.
They’re obnoxiously attached to his totalitarian ways.
Because of some dark, psychiatric reason, they will never vote for an American.

Article is right—to a point. Obama still has a lot in his corner but he’s losing his best people and replacing them with yes men. people are getting sick of his one note act and the PC foolishness of the left. If the GOP will face up to him and not roll over they might score some points—BUT—I fear that world events will get in the way. If the little fat man in North Korea orders an attack, or Iran hits Israel, or Japan and China duke it out at sea... or any number of things happen it could change everything... If I was an enemy of the uSA, I wouldn’t let this opportunity pass to gain at the USA’s expense. Obama will do nothing to stop Islamic people or the Chinese. His only bid is to run to the worthless UN as Americans die. Even Biden would be a better war time president.

Subject: A Marine Father Speaks Out!!!: Obama Suspends Tuition Assistance BUT SENDS 250 Million to Thugs!

Of all the Americans who should be heard are the families of their Warriors who are willingly fighting on foreign soil to keep us all safe. I thank God Every day for Great Americans like Dennis and his Brave Son and family. Thanks to this brave Marine's wife, we have quite a group sending care packages to all of these Marines, and that is as it should be. It's the very least we can do!

Below are the words of This Proud Marine Father Whose Son is Serving in Afghanistan. He's outraged, as we all should be!

Hi Beverly,

My son Michael has been using this Tuition Assistance to gain a teaching degree. Now he is deployed over in Afghanistan defending our country, doing what our country asks of him, and his Commander in Chief takes away one of the little benefits they have for serving our country. This is unbelievable. Where is the outcry from our veterans groups? Where is the outcry from all the Americans who have the magnets on the back of their cars stating "We Support Our troops"???? They really just like having the magnets and acting like they do. They should be doing what I did last week, calling the White House, calling my Senators & Congressman and telling them that they should be ashamed for not screaming at the top of their lungs about this. When re-election time comes I will attend their events and ask why. Also "Where is the great Tammy Duckworth on this issue???" Is the media doing there protection again? We have tons of money going to organizations like the Muslim Brotherhood because Obama wants to support them. The Democrats use the excuse that we have done this for years, and have spent billions of dollars even with Republican Presidents. What they leave out is that Egypt is governed totally different now. The people in charge of Egypt now want us, and all of Israel destroyed.

We have billions of dollars to spend on the parasite's that live off of us that work everyday. These parasite's that voted Democrat so that they can keep their inflated union pensions and retire in their 50's with almost full pay and medical coverage. I'm tired of supporting this scum. I watch the news at night and it makes me sick.

What about the news last week regarding "Illegal Aliens" getting Tuition Assistance in some states?

I will pay for my son Michael's tuition. Michael wants to become a history teacher when he leaves the Marine Corp. He told me that America needs Marines to teach or children. He believes that true conservatives need to be in the school system. When I told him the other day that a little 5 year old boy was suspended from school because he chewed his Pop Tart into the shape of a gun he couldn't believe it.

Beverly, I thank God everyday for great Americans like you and your family.

God bless you,

Dennis,

Proud Parent Of A United States Marine.

This is OUTRAGEOUS!!! Obama's War on America: Suspends tuition assistance for our troops, #1 Recruiting tool

This National Disaster in the White House uses and abuses our Troops as he sends our tax dollars to fund the butchers over in Egypt:

Obama administration hit for giving Egypt $250M as domestic spending cuts take hold

This is pure insanity!

Bill Clinton was a lot smarter.

Please remember Clinton basically governed from the middle. He went whatever way 51% of the poll said he should.

Bill was a Rhodes Scholar and a great charismatic speaker who could think on his feet. “I feel your pain”. He was very likable. Obama is a thin skinned ultimate example of affirmative action.

Bill was a self made man that came from trailer trash to become the most powerful man in the world. He was also an American.

Do not get me wrong about Bill, he was a scum bag sexual predator. I certainly would not trust him around my daughter. However, if someone gave me a choice of who I could go out a play a round of golf with or hang out on the weekend, the decision would easily be good ‘ol Billy boy.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
In my not so humble opinion, there is one extra word in the second sentence here, I don’t see anything “BORDERLINE” about Joe Biden’s ranting on the use of shotguns. Biden’s words are full blown insane whether you intend the legal meaning of insane which is to be unable to distinguish right from wrong and conform one’s actions accordingly or you mean just plain nuts. Uncle Joe should be in a rubber room lest he should come in contact with reality and injure himself or others.

Of course even Biden may have been put “in the shade” by Diane Blindswine’s latest utterance where she claims that it is now “legal to hunt humans” with a magazine that holds up to 150 rounds. Would someone with the skills to do so please put up a picture of Biden, Blindswine and John Kerry, the guy who served in Vietnam, in a gun store asking, “Kin I git me one o’ them huntin’ licenses fer humans here?” I nominate Biden, Blindswine and Kerry for the core cast of a new TV series to be called, THE STUMBLING BRAIN DEAD.

My father was a lifelong Democrat, born in 1913 in the “Solid South” where Republican was a dirty word in the first half of the twentieth century. He died at 81 years and said during his last year that the biggest mistake we ever made was to elect Ronald Reagan twice but even he used to tell stories about the rampant election fraud in South Carolina when he was young. He could only have been talking about Democrats because a Republican was only slightly less rare in Carolina than a fur bearing frog in those days.
