Region's Firearm Factories Booming, As Gun Debate Continues
Hart\ford Courant ^ | Dan Haar March 11, 2013 | Dan Haar

It doesn't take long to see the effects of massive investment at the Connecticut factories that make the AR-15 military-style rifle.

Deep in the heart of the sprawling Colt firearms plant in West Hartford, Bobby Craddock sets up rifle barrels in an enclosed, computerized lathe the size of a small car.

Wearing green rubber gloves, the Colt employee will start the lathe, then oversee a nearby machine. The second machine will inspect the rifle barrel itself, immediately after the cutting process is complete, and will readjust the first machine for the next barrel, if necessary.

When the job is done, Craddock will screw an extension onto the part before sending it on its way toward assembly. Then as a finished firearm, it will move to Department 152 — the test firing range inside the factory the size of eight football fields.

Friday on the CT Public network I watched live a committee on gun violence at the capital.
Wow these people are dangerous ,have no idea what infringe means and obviously have no respect for the constitution.
There was some AH named Bernard Sullivan,an x police chief and he was the worst of the bunch
Everything they pushed was unconstitutional and they were just going on and on reinforcing each others proposals.Every proposal elimintaed and or hindered law abiding gun owners rights and make some people criminals overnight.
Not one member supports any thing to do with gun ownwerhip.I had to shut it off it was sickening. It was and is a perfect example of Control not gun control Members of the CT Gun Grab Commission:

Chairman Scott Jackson, mayor of Hamden, Conn.

Adrienne Bentman, director of the Adult Psychiatry Residency Program at Hartford Hospital’s Institute of Living.

Ron Chivinski, a teacher at Newtown Middle School.

Robert Ducibella, founding principal of DVS Security Consulting and Engineering.

Terry Edelstein, the governor’s liaison to non-profit organizations.

Kathleen Flaherty, a lawyer who works with the National Alliance for Mental Illness in Connecticut.

Alice Forrester, executive director of the Clifford W. Beers Guidance Clinic.

Ezra Griffith, senior research scientist at Yale University’s Department of Psychiatry.

Patricia Keavney-Maruca , a member of the state board of education and a former technical high school teacher.

Christopher Lyddy, a former state legislator who represented Newtown who is a consultant on stress and trauma.

Denis McCarthy, Norwalk, Conn., fire chief.

Barbara O’Connor, University of Connecticut director of public safety.

Wayne Sandford, a professor at the University of New Haven’s Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences and former deputy commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Emergency Management & Homeland Security.

David Schonfeld, the director of the National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement and a professor at the University of Cincinnati Department of Pediatrics.

Harold Schwartz, chief psychiatrist at Hartford Hospital’s Institute of Living.

Bernard Sullivan, former Hartford police chief and former commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Public Safety.

Your obserfvations are spot on. We have to get out this morning and show up at the LOB in Hartford.

It will be difficult for many to take off from work to be there but it looks like this is our last stand.

From the CCDL

There will be free shuttle buses running about every 15-20 minutes between Cabela’s and the LOB from 8am until 4pm. Parking in the Capitol area on a weekday can be challenging as well as expensive; take advantage of this.

If you have any questions, volunteers will be wearing orange NRA hats (even the CCDL people) and will be stationed at Cabela’s, on the buses, and at the LOB.

When you get to the LOB, make your way to the 2nd floor atrium. There will be tables set up so you can sign in, get a CCDL sticker, maps and directions to how to find your legislator’s offices, etc. THIS IS IMPORTANT. Please sign in! We want proof of how many turned out.

This event will be going on all day. You don’t have to get there at 8am. if you can’t get there until 11am, or 2pm, that’s fine. Come on down anyway.

Remember, this is not a rally, this is a chance to meet with YOUR local legislators and look them right in the eye and tell them you do NOT support any further restrictions on our rights, and you do NOT support them using the E-CERT process to bypass public hearings. It’s also a chance to meet and connect with like-minded people. Sometimes it can feel lonely being a gun owner in CT, but there are hundreds of thousands of us. Come out and make some new friends!

Also remember that no weapons are allowed inside the LOB. Also please dress respectful. Respect the process, even if you personally feel you can’t respect some individuals.

Thank you, CCDL is looking foward to seeing all of you there today.

How kind of you. Thank you!

I heard this morning *they* are pushing a date of March 15th to have the vote on all the crap they are trying to push down our throats. This is all in the light of the fact that *report* on the events of Newtown have yet to be released.

We’re surrounded by fools. Damn fools.

What you have posted is the list that every patriot in that area should have as a priority to take condign action on if things get to the violent stage.

Daffynition does not need to “calm down.” I admire her enthusiasm and respect her courage.

I’ll guess that you don’t _live_ in Connecticut. I do, only about ten miles from the Sandy Hook elementary.

The voters of CT _will_ “remember” — and probably give the ‘rats a bigger margin come next election, than they did last time.

This is a blue state. A DEEP BLUE state. The left is firmly in control here, and that’s not likely to change.

That’s the way it is, in the new “Divided America”...

Hi Daffy. Here's my son with Ziggy. Do you know him? He's at all the rallies. He's from Kosovo and is always talking about how he struggled to leave the type of govt we are turning into.

From Chris; CCDL:

Today’s Lobby Day was a huge success. Thanks go out to the NRA, National Shooting Sports Foundation, Bob Crook’s Coalition of Connecticut Sportsmen, and Cabela’s.

Thanks to all the CCDL volunteers who spend all day loading buses, passing out stickers, giving directions, and looking up legislator info. You all ROCKED!

Special thanks go out to all of you, the people who took time out from your jobs, your families, and your lives to come to Hartford and make sure your voice was heard. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Several media reports have said “hundreds” of people attended. Don’t believe them. We kept track of how many people were bused from Cabela’s to the LOB, and we also know many stickers were passed out to people. Well over 3,000 people came out today and talked to their legislators.
Let’s hope they listen.
I’ll post some pictures and video in a day or two.
