The Bill of Rights is comprised of the first 10 amendments to the Constitution, and the town of Newfield, N.J., appears hell-bent on repealing every single one of them.
Newfield homeowner Eileen Hart attended an informal meeting Saturday to discuss property revaluations in light of the findings by Appraisal Systems Inc., a firm hired by New Jersey to assess the fair market value of properties in each county.

I agree with you.
It appears that New Jersey has finally slipped completely over the line and is now a “Police State”.
Socialist Republic of New Jersey. Praying for this family. This makes me feel so sick.
“And how we burned in the camps later ...”
Imossible, NJ has a “conservative” governor. /sarc
Move to Texas
Solzhenitsyn should be required reading.
I am sure Christie Kreme will get right on this. /sarc
N.J. Mother Arrested, Guns Confiscated- By Attending Property Tax Dispute Forum
US CONSTITUTIONMARCH 9, 2013BY: HARRIET BALDWIN
(Original article the article posted talks about)
You mean that there was a time in living memory when it wasn't? Who knew?
Where is that fat governor who can’t get enough face time on TV? This is a gross violation of an American’s civil rights....or do only the Takers have civil rights now?
Why? So they can do that in Texas next?
Welcome to the USSA, comrades.
Big Brother will NOT tolerate damned Constitution fanatics quoting that obsolete document.
Just like back in the USSR.
Freedom lovers need to leave the police states, and move to free(r) states. Their loss, our gain.
False arrest suit should yield substantially.
“As an Orthodox Jew...”
Never in the history of the world has guns been taken from the Jews.. wait a minute...
Deprivation of rights under the color of law is a felony.
They’re not going to get by with it. He’ll is about to rain down on that town now. Watch and see.
Not sure why that ADDS to the outrage. Would it be less outrageous of he was the granddaughter of Swedish peasants?
These people of faith are very dangerous.
This woman is obviously a threat and should be taken to task for her threatening words.
Maybe someone needs to remind the law makers of this
This is a pretty incredible story...
But it shows just how far we’ve fallen and how freakin’ helpless we’ve allowed ourselves to become.
Why not just say "Socialist Republic of the United States"?
This was not the state of NJ as an actor - this was a fascist act by a town, in fact by a village.
Less than 2,000 people live in Newfield.
The fact is, in most small towns in America, a few well-connected individuals are able to run roughshod over the non-connected.
If she is vindicated, she will be vindicated by a state court.
A lot of people here seem to be confused by the way American government operates.
The problem with people leaving those hell holes is they arrive and decide to “upgrade” the area to resemble what they had back there. Yeah, we get some who believe in conservative values and the Constitution but the problem is for everyone of them comes a horde of the lefties who are getting away from high taxes while infused with their lefty bile. For me, prime example is NE Florida. Long a very conservative bastion, today there are carpetbaggers pushing gun control petitions, more EPA style legislation and anti religion rhetoric in any time I can remember.
I like to use the line Flip Wilson used in his Columbus discovers America routine...the natives sitting on the beach saying: go back, go back, we don’t want to be discovered. Whenever I see a vehicle with UofM sticker or Jersey Shore on it, I cringe.
As an investigator that has investigated much political corruption I despise dishonest government officials that make false statements to support their fellow cronies. It wont take long to run down some witnesses at the town hall meeting to determine what really happened. “Official Opression” is a pretty serious offense that is generally just one of many filed after the spotlight is put upon the city council members and police officers. If they lied it will come out in witness interviews most of the time.
Because- in North Carolina we are not going down like that. It is pretty obvious there is a cold Civil War.
Get involved in your local politics. THAT is where the change is going to happen.
Why? So they can do that in Texas next?
You mean that there was a time in living memory when it wasn’t? Who knew?
Well... I was there for a short time in the early 70’s. It didn’t seem so bad... Of course if I remember correctly the Mafia ran it all. ;-)
This New Jersey resident fought hard for Governor Perry.
Swedish peasants probably wouldn’t have told her stories about Nazis disarming and killing since she was a child. I could be wrong on this.
It may be an abuse as stated in the article. Then again, it may not. Some people are drama queens and do stupid stuff to get attention. I have seen it both ways.
Yes, small towns are usually run by a clique of a few that bother to show up at meetings, serve on committees, and do a fair amount of the work that needs to be done. If you want to be protected, the easiest way is to become one of the “in” crowd.
It does not take much. Join one of the local parties. If one is extremely dominant, join that one. Do party work. Become a precinct committee person. Volunteer to work on campaigns. Show up at town meetings.
This will make you known. Police will be more polite. It is very hard not be noticed anymore. So much so, it may be easier to get “inside” the system. It will not help you if/when we go full blown Stalinesque, but short of that, being known is a defense.
On the surface, I have a lot of problems with is what is alleged to have gone down. However, there is very little detail in this story. It’s way too biased and amateurish to take seriously.
This story doesn’t make sense.
Why were 5 police cars dispatched to arrest this woman when she got home? The arrest should have come at the meeting if one was to be made. Did the company hired by the State swear out a warrant for her? Why does the State hire a firm to do what is basically a state job? Even here in the People’s Republic of Maryland the State decides on my taxes.
What right did the police have to enter her home much less search it and seize weapons?
The facts as portrayed in the story are completely outrageous on its face. There was no need to add this superfluous appeal to emotions.
Sends up alarm bells in my mind about the whole story.
I was hoping for more info, but it is another opinion piece. I’d like interviews with those making the allegations or at least an acknowledgement that the refused to comment. We are only getting one side of the story and, although it is compelling, it IS only one side. I’m reserving judgement.
IMHO gunowners need to be careful. This reminds me of the case where a CCW went to a Costco in Las Vegas NV. He leaned over to get something and a store clerk noticed his concealed pistol. She had a problems with people owning and carrying guns. She simply called the cops claiming a man had a gun and was behaving violently and erractically in the store. The man’s girlfriend and other family members who was with him shopping said he was acting normally. Problem is the cops get a report of angry man with gun. They arrived and waited for the CCW at the store entrance. When he came out, one officer yelled freeze, the other yelled hands up and the other yelled hit the ground. No matter which officer direction he complied, the other two open fired because he did not do what they wanted him to. Result is a dead CCW due to an exaggerated clerk report. IMHO I think the clerk had a idignation of gun ownership and did her part to eliminate another evil gun (and owner). She probably did not care when the CCW owner was shot to death due to her exaggerated report. Today the case is pending the the CCw family must deal with the loss and the video showing the shootout at the entrance was lost.
I think a town council member surmise that the woman was conservative Jew, Tea Party like, thus very likely a gunowner. To teach her a lesson, just report to the cops about a gun threat and put her thru great expense and legal jeopardy thru the legal system just to teach her a lesson.
I tell my son who is in college to keep his mouth shut on politics, because today a stranger can hate you for your viewpoint. Telling them you are a gunowner puts you a great jeopardy because the hater knows no bounds to get you into trouble.
I’m assuming there is an audio or video recording, though I could be wrong.
She should call the ACLU.
bwaaahahaha that was hard to say with a straight face.
Exactly! — A public meeting - people come to express their ideas - and if she was told to shit down and shut up - a mother worried about paying for her house (or selling it at this point) - sure she’s going to be upset.
I don’t know if she said what was reported - but if there are witnesses that heard her speak - and they give written statements that she did not - and those warrants were issued off of that company’s people — then there are multiple charges awaiting them...only if the prosecutor takes it to the next level of course.
There’s much more going on than what was in this article - an article with very few detailed facts — but an article to elicit more emotional responses...
whoops...”sit down and shut up”
The information in that article is terribly sketchy.
What are we supposed to to about it?
Send lawyers? Money? Guns? iTunes gift cards?
I know... Maybe a nice round of pass the meaningless graphic around on Facebook.
Incidences like this will only get worse. They will spread into every part of this Country.
And no... There is NOTHING we are willing to do to stop it.
