“Instead of having a Republican Party primary next year, it is possible that the state party convention, fewer than 1,000 people, most of whom you’ve never heard of, would pick the entire slate of GOP candidates for November.”
I seriously doubt that. The SC RINOs are on the run and this next 2014 election is their last gasp. The SC RINO is going down hard, with a good number of them going to prison.
Sarge, you’re seeing something from afar that I’m missing up close.
Do you live in SC? Because if you did, you’d know that these guys most certainly would pull crap like this.
You should see how many primary challengers ‘lost’ after they won the primary, because of ridiculous rules ‘discovered’ after the fact in our state house races. The people here are on a mission to expel these fsckers and they don’t want to be put out and they’ll do anything they can to stay in power. We’re going to get every last slimy one of them and Pansey is their pride and joy. We’re going to take him out in the most embarrassing way possible, primary or no.
I don’t live there. I’m glad you’re confident you’ll succeed. What I’m saying is, I doubt the SC GOPE is going to say “No primary this year, we’re going to choose our candidate... Lindey Graham!”
Might they try something underhanded? Sure. I just don’t think it could realistically be as straightforward as the article makes out.
Honestly, I haven’t investigated whether this is actually possible or not, but I can definitely tell you that they’ll do ANYTHING, no matter how outlandish, to hold power. I wouldn’t put anything past them.
In my neck of the woods, which is the most conservative part of the state, we’ve ousted all the bad guys. I’m putting everything I’ve got into taking out the trash in the rest of the state in ‘14. :-)
I wish you great success, whoever the candidate ends up being. Just watch out for those Tokyo Rove bucks that will be put up to defend Lindsey. Karl is ready to do what he did with Christine O’Donnell. He’ll trash the real conservatives in 2014. Steve King is already under attack.
I know I opened this thread by referencing LG, but it’s a severe situation that is mostly centered in Columbia, and not just a Lynnzee problem. It appears S.C. could become a battleground State between those holding power and voter-citizens who still believe politicians can be fired by a majority of the governed.
