Maine has received a $10.5 million federal grant to aid homeless people and families, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced Wednesday.
The funding will support 42 homeless housing and service programs throughout Maine.
This funding is critical to local Maine programs that are on the front lines of helping those who might otherwise be living on our streets, Barbara Fields, HUDs New England administrator, said. The evidence is clear that every dollar we spend on these programs that help find a stable home for our homeless neighbors not only saves money but quite literally saves lives.
Housing and Urban Developments Continuum of Care grants are awarded to local projects to meet the needs of their homeless clients.
The grants fund a majority of programs from street outreach to assessment, along with transitional and permanent housing for homeless individuals and families.
Don't seem to be a whole lot of sequestering going on;)
This is impossible, because the Whitehouse is closed to visitors because money is tight.
“42 homeless housing and service programs”
What’s the admin overhead for 42 different programs? How many useless people are employed? Why so many?
Hawaii got $11 million,Joe Biden just announced over $2 million to fight domestic violence,Federal Grants for everyone!
How many are homeless in Maine? How much does the state and local governments spend on this? How much are their charitable donations? Are we coming up with enough $$ that the could all have homes?
That works out to $250,000 per program. You hire three employees to administer that money, and it leaves you zero dollars for the homeless, but you got 126 new jobs for Democrats? Money well spent!
There are as many empty houses in Maine as there are homeless people.
My plan for Maine would be to give them a one-way ticket to Detroit with a $1,000 check waiting for them when they get off the bus. Detroit has lots of empty houses.
