Posted on 03/14/2013 4:55:41 AM PDT by BO Stinkss
An Alabama homeowner shot and killed a suspected burglar while defending his property on Tuesday night. It is merely the latest instance of a gun owner using a firearm to combat a criminal, which TheBlaze has reported on extensively.
The gun owner dropped the home intruder with just one shot from his shotgun, according to police. Investigators do not expect any charges to be filed against the homeowner as it appears to be a clear-cut case of self-defense.
Police responded to a call about a gunshot victim in Albertville, Ala. just before 9 p.m. Tuesday. Assistant Police Chief Jamie Smith told WHNT-TV that the homeowner made the 911 call to report the shooting.
We are in the early stages of the investigation, but right now were treating it as a burglary and the homeowner defending his property, Smith said, adding that Your home is your castle, you can only retreat so far as your home.
He continued: Im sure at the time he felt he was in danger so he took what action he thought he needed to take at the time to protect himself You can back away from anything but home is as far backwards as you can go. At what point do you leave your house to let them have it?
If thats even a question, Smith added, and in my mind, it wouldnt be.
The assistant police chief went on to say he is a supporter of the Second Amendment and defended residents right to do what youve got to do and use what tools are necessary.
Due to protocol, the case will still be presented to the Grand Jury but police dont expect and indictment.
Police have not released the intruders identity as they are working to locate and inform his family, but Smith said police are familiar with the burglar from previous investigations, WHNT-TV reports.

ANyone walking into this Alabama home will be in for a lot of Nasty surprises. If the Boxer doesn’t tear the intruder to shreds and if ‘Momma’ ain’t dropped him with one of several choices — then he will still have to come through Moi, and I can assure you that ain’t never happening.
Who the hell breaks into a home in Alabama during prime time (9:00) expecting to meet unarmed, compliant victims? I guess it’s true that there is no entrance exam to a life of crime.
Police have not released the intruders identity as they are working to locate and inform his family”
I’m sure the family will go on tv in tears saying he was turning his lfe around and why did the home owner have to shoot him.
Don’t bring a crow bar or screw driver to a gun fight.
I'm sure the homeowner went out on the balcony and shot up in the air twice, as instructed. The intruder was probably floating up over the balcony and it was a freak accident. /s
What is really nice is to hear the police say things like:
Im sure at the time he felt he was in danger so he took what action he thought he needed to take at the time to protect himself...
Which sounds like there won't be any problems for the homeowner - other than cleaning up.
In the heat of the moment, the homeowner must have forgotten bidens clear definite instruction to fire into the air...twice. Oh well!
When finally reached, he said the case is proof that people don't need anything more than a single shot shotgun. /sarc
Most cops agree with us. It’s the corrupt town administrations that desperately want to seize legal guns from non-violent citizens so that the criminals (downtrodden underclass victims oppressed etc) can waltz right in and take what is ‘rightfully’ theirs.
Oh he fired into he air alright, he just fired horizontally not vertically...................just using a little liberal word parsing.
Albertville has a large community of migrant farm workers(read-illeagle aliens). I suspect this is why they are still “working to locate and inform his family.
Haha, that’ll work!
That will be a job for Serve-Pro.
12 Gauge - it’s the “other” Double Tap
Future crime prevention...
I have an 85 lb. Lab/Pit cross and a 109 lb. Great Dane as my first defenders. After meeting those two the subhuman has me with a Beretta Model 96 with hollow points. Home invasions here in semi-rural East Tennessee can be bad for the invaders’ health.
Yup,”Like it never ever happened”!
>> I have an 85 lb. Lab/Pit
Gotta make the best of that one Frisbee throw.
I’m curious to know what ammo the guy used.
And when the homeowner gets a no-billed, the matter is finished.
Where'd he get the ammo? I thought TSA had all the bullets. /sarc
I know, not nice, not "pc" to laugh at the thought of the demise of another human being. But a little dark humor once in a while...
My 90 lb lab is my alarm system. Her job is to let me know, distract whoever is coming in, and buy me the few seconds I need to pick up whatever firearm is handy. That could be any combination of 9mm or .45 with hollow points, a 12 ga with #1 buck, or the AR with my “party mix” mag of FMJ, frangible hollow points, and green tip penatrator rounds (go through everything but plate body armor)...
I just love a story with a happy ending!
(Just wait until liberals find out about "assault buckshot weapons."
We live in a nice country club neighborhood. Last week the house 3 doors down from us was burglarized during the daytime while the neighbors were at work. Sunday night at 10:45 pm the perps came back, kicked in the front door, went up the stairs and tried to get in the master bedroom while the neighbors were in there in bed watching tv.
I told them....good thing they didn’t choose our house, they would have met several bullets.
It doesn’t seem to matter where you live here anymore, no place is ‘safe’.
Sniff. A happy ending! I love them!
1. What do I do if it is more than one person.
2. Where are other members of my family and how do I protect them under different scenarios.
3. Should I try and escape my home with my family or stand and fight. Is escaping or fighting the safest course of action. Relative to fighting one must remember that if a bad guy has broken into your home he is prepared to use deadly violence on you.
4. Know your weapon, know your weapon, know your weapon and become proficient with it. If you can not load and utilize your weapon in the dark by feel only, you do not know your weapon. Practice practice practice.
5. Any action you take should increase the chances of you and your families survival. If fleeing the home increase survival chances, do it. If killing the bad guy increases survival, do it.
6. If you do kill or injure the bad guy, call 911 and request medical and police asap. Tell 911 nothing except the scene is safe, and there has been an injury due to firearms. When the police arrive for gods sake do not have a firearm visible on your person or near you. You might get shot. After you call 911, call your lawyer.
7. Inform the police that you were in fear of your life and will cooperate fully with them as soon as your lawyer speaks to you. THEN SHUT-UP and do exactly what your lawyer says.
Make damn sure you know your state's laws on the use of deadly force. What is legal in Texas could get you brought up on murder charges in New York, Chicago, Massachusetts, etc>
Use enough gun.
Good thing. Those puppies are a bear to reload for a fast followup shot.
An Alabama man with a shotgun can probbly hit a one ounce Dove flying at 60 MPH in a high wind. Intruders should have more respect.
I have a trebuchet in my Herman Miller sheep pen .... Minute of cubical accuracy with wet paper towels ..... Soggy death from afar .....
I know, not nice, not “pc” to laugh at the thought of the demise of another human being.
If You do not enforce the Bill of Rights; WHO will?
Were your neighbors armed? Liberals? Just curious.
Don’t really know them so no clue.
