Rising unemployment, bleak economic prospects and continued austerity is making people question the benefits of the EU, Europes top trade unionist has said.
Speaking ahead of Thursdays (14 March) EU summit, Bernadette Segol, head of the European Trade Union Confederation, said the current policies have failed.
We are in a double dip recession. Unemployment is up, up and up. When is growth going to come?
Segol, who met top EU politicians for a social dialogue, said she tried to convey a sense of urgency to leaders about member states where doubts about the benefits of the European Union is showing more and more.

Eu is not the problem for Europe. Socialism and Overspending are the real problems in Europe.
Among other things he said was that referendums would doom the EuroZone pronto. Also, that when he was forced by politics to sign the Lisbon constitution/treaty just 16% of Czechs wanted in EU and only 6% wanted in EZ.
He also said that before the euro became official he pleaded with German Chancellor of Germany Helmut Kohl that the scheme of early euro was doomed. Kohl brushed him off with, in effect, "It's politics."
The referendums in Ireland prove that the EU doesn’t listen to them; if you vote the wrong way, they force a revote and pile on the propaganda to get you to vote their way.
Hmmmm ... isn’t Islamism a threat to Europe?
What the EU elites did to him is utterly shameful (especially Dany Cohn-Bendit). But of course, nobody in power in the USA pulls them up on it.
Islam is a threat to the social fabric of Europe.
Socialism and over spending is the economic threat.
