Washington (CNN) -- You probably recognize Sen. Rob Portman from his tireless campaigning for Mitt Romney in 2012. He was even on the short list to be Romney's running mate.

He's been a leading Republican voice on economic issues for four decades.

Now, the prominent Ohio conservative will be known for something else: reversing his hardline position against gay marriage.

He invited CNN to his Senate office to reveal the news. "I'm announcing today a change of heart on an issue that a lot of people feel strongly about that has to do with gay couples' opportunity to marry," Portman told CNN.

RINO Portman sold his constituents down the river when he decided to support Romney over Santorum out of hopes he’d be the Veep.

What a freaking surprise.

Next that RINO sissy will invite Anderson Cooper to a sleep over. And the GOP wonders why they have lost decent conservative voters.

Does that mean that Portman now supports Polygamy and Incestuous Marriage as well?

If not, why not? After all, the people involved in those relationships shouldn’t be prevented from Marrying the people they “love”, right?

In fact it’s downright hateful if you only support Gay Marriage if I use the Liberal Logic being spewed by the Liberals, Democrats and of course the Media.

Seems to me it’s an all or nothing position, right Portman?.

press conference to announce “I’m caving”, wants libtards to know so he can get his good boy pats on the head from the morally superior we-were-here-first libtards.

Proof that having an R after your name doesn't make you a conservative. The party has been overrun with liberals, and I don't see a return to conservatism anytime soon. In fact, various party talking heads have said the reason Romney lost was because he was too conservative. They believe that by abandoning conservative principles, the party and its candidates will appeal more to the low information voters who support Obama. So I expect to see more liberalism in the party's future. Conservatives have been abandoned.

Expect to see the party implode...that is, if Der Fuehrer doesn't have it abolished first

And they wonder why Conservatives did not turn out in mass for Romney, the establishment caves to everything the Liberal Left wants, time for the RINO’s to go!

The “new” GOP: “Evolve” on gay marriage as fast as possible and then run to lib media outlets to announce it.

In the last three weeks, this is pretty much par for the course.

Ohio voted 2 to 1 for traditional marriage at the ballot box. He’s thumbing his nose at those votes.

Good point. But it's far too logical for the average liberal to comprehend.

Hey, he is a politician! What do you really expect? This man will tailor his beliefs to whatever he thinks if it is in vogue these days. Anything other than that is garbage.

You don’t just change moral beliefs! Take that with a large grain of salt. You either have them or you make them up for your political benefit. Morality is a lifelong achievement.

I want to be able to marry all of my adult sons and their children. There’s no requirement or proof of sexual contact inherent in the new state-recognized marriage, is there? I’m just hoping to take advantage of the ability to have a portion of my estate pass to my spouse(s) free from probate and taxes upon my eventual death. Marrying all my heirs would minimize government’s portion and influence. And I do love them all, if that’s the defining test.

I do believe that these freeloading public servants have way too much free time on their hands.

... and another one bites the dust.

It’s so sad that Mr. Portman does not realize that his son being a homosexual is not the issue. The issue is that the institution of traditional marriage must be upheld so that children can be raised by a MOTHER and a FATHER. Children deserve to have a MOM and a DAD. Period.

It’s easy to tell a Conservative from a Politician - The Politician always goes with the latest polls, the latest trend, etc., the Conservative actually has values that he will always support regardless of popular support. The differences are actually easy to see if you view this within this context.
