Schumer’s Transfer Tyranny “Protecting Responsible Gun Sellers Act of 2013”
National Review ^ | Mar. 14, 2013 | Charles C. W. Cooke

Posted on 03/15/2013 7:21:16 AM PDT by EXCH54FE

S. 374 represents a direct blow to Americans’ right to keep and bear arms without excessive government interference. The bill holds that any “transfer” of a firearm must be conducted via a middleman (in practice, a law-enforcement officer or the holder of a Federal Firearms License) and that a transferee is obliged to submit to a check under the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System. There are good-faith arguments in favor of and against this provision. But Chuck Schumer has narrowed the definition of “transfer” so strictly as to make his proposition absurd. If, for example, a gun owner leaves his home for more than seven days — leaving his firearms with his roommate, or gay partner, or landlord — he’ll be committing a felony that carries a five-year prison term. And while married couples are exempted from falling afoul of that provision, the family exemptions apply only to recorded “gifts” and not to “temporary transfers.” In order to avoid making felons of millions of couples, the government would, at the very least, need to spell out clearly what constitutes “gifting” a gun within a family and what constitutes a “temporary transfer,” thus regulating an area that has hitherto largely been left alone.

What else would change? Well, it would be illegal to lend a gun to a friend so that he can go shooting. Want to give your pistol to your neighbor so he can pop down to the range for a few hours but don’t have time to go with him? Sorry, better make sure you look good in orange. Need more than the allowed 24 hours to report a stolen gun to the authorities? What is this — Somalia? You’re a felon: Sharing guns between buddies on a hunting trip? Five years inside for you.

No! Schumer is an enabler of the state and an enemy of freedom-minded people everywhere.

You got that right!! Schumer, Feinstein, McCarthy, their accomplices, and the smug complacent fools who voted for them are enemies of freedom. These are the real enemy, not the Taliban the Chinese, etc. They are one hell of a lot more dangerous enemies than any ragged towel type with an AK-74 in Afganistan.

Exactly. We are Screwed good and proper.

They are introducing so many gun bills that if only 10% of them passed we are fugged.

That is the plan.

Dazzle them with BS.

Trav, I tried it on a Samsung Galaxy III running Android 4.1 ('Jellybean'), using FireFox as my web browser to access your comment on FR. FireFox is also what I usually run on my Win7 PCs.

The link stays in the browser and jumps to m.youtube.com, but then presents a message I've seen before: "The content owner has not made this video available on mobile. Add to playlist to watch it later on a PC." I don't fiddle with youtube much, so how you "make it available" is unknown to me.

Interestingly, if I use the dedicated YouTube app on Android (vs. the web browser), a search on "Democide" and variants, including the full literal string "DEMOCIDE: Socialism, Tyranny, Guns And Freedom", yeilds nothing at all -- you video isn't even listed. Don't know if that's because of the same restriction, censorship on YouTube's part, or what.

They seem to be begging for a Civil War.

What they likely will get, however, is a severe case of lead poisoning.

Schumer really does have an unlikeable personae. Wondering how he ever got elected it seems to me that the electorate in his area are just fanatical leftists.

Since Schemer is a senator from the state of NY, that would imply that the majority of New Yorkers are fanatical leftists. Which near as I can tell they are. If we could somehow give NY, MA, RI, CT, and ME to Canada, the USA would be a lot better off and the Canadians would get what they deserve for being socialistic too.

That dirtbag is an enemy of the state.

Nah, he's the state's best buddy. His enemies are his moral and Constitutional superiors, those who pay (for whatever reason) his salary, the people.

I could just see this scenario. If you don’t register your weps and say a thug breaks in to your home an you cap him. You will go to jail because you have an illegal, unregistered weapon. Stand your ground will be useless unless you register. I think this is where this is going because they know that no one will comply with any registration.

Lemme ask you. Your scenario goes down. You cap the perp.

Exactly why do you need to call po po?

I got a pick up big tarp, a meat hook to drag a carcass, and
plenty of lonely dark mountain roads around here.

Unless you have a suppressed weapon the noise will surely give away what you did. Not all of us reside in the sticks. You would have an easier time as the herd will be thinned out by the time they get out to ya.

We are so screwed.

Remember the words of the great "Chesty" Puller...

“All right, they’re on our left, they’re on our right, they’re in front of us, they’re behind us…they can’t get away this time.”

“Great. Now we can shoot at those bastards from every direction.”

“We’re surrounded. That simplifies our problem of getting to these people and killing them”

The Colorado legislature just put a bill on the Governor’s desk that outlaws “transfers” without a background check...
