Sen. Ted Cruz: We shouldn't be implementing ObamaCare when it could throw us into a recession

GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, FOX NEWS HOST: Now to ObamaCare. It may be the law of the land, but that is not stopping Senator Ted Cruz. He is taking action against ObamaCare. Senator Cruz joins us. Nice to see you, sir.

SEN. TED CRUZ, R- TEXAS: Great to see you, Greta.

VAN SUSTEREN: OK, so you are proposing an amendment to the continuing resolution to slow down the funding of ObamaCare. Explain what you want and why.

CRUZ: Well, I think the top priority of every elected representative in Washington should be economic growth. If you look at the past four years, our economy's not growing. And in the last four years, it's grown 0.8 percent a year. And as a result of that stagnant growth, we're not able to get 23 million people back to work. Our federal balance sheet remains a train wreck.

The only way to solve the deficit, to solve the debt, to get people back to work, to get opportunity flowing again is to get growth. This last quarter, we had growth of 0.1 percent. So this week, on the continuing resolution, I'm introducing an amendment that is entitled Restore Growth First, and what it would do is delay funding "Obama care" until we get back to historic levels of growth.

With the economy stagnant, if we implement ObamaCare now, it will kill jobs! It will hammer small businesses! And it could well push us into a recession. That doesn't make any sense!

A “recession” would be the least of our problems.

We shouldn't be implementing ObamaCare at all. Ever.

I get that this isn't the point of the headline or the article, but I'm sure Cruz gets that too.

Nothing much will happen until the Esteemed Sobber of the House Boehner steps down, or agrees to shut down the US Federal Government.

Until then The House RINOs will continue to be steam-rolled by Spendaholic B. Hussein Obama.

If the numbers weren’t cooked, it’d be obvious that we’ve been in recession since 2009.

Don’t worry Mr. Cruz, it won’t set off a recession... because we’re already in one.

Of course, you are right.

But I am not hearing any of the other so-called conservatives even say this much.

The other so-called "Principled" conservatives are hiding in the corner with their fingers in the wind testing the political winds.

Rubio is a big-time Amnesty Queen, including dissing AZ1070.

On other issues as well, he has been going soft.

Not a very strong, principled conservative, IMHO.

I will take the rest of your list though.

That's a good group of conservatives.

We never came out of ‘recession’...lies, confusion, obfuscation and subterfuge....any economist, hedge fund manager, government analyist, commercial analyst, banker et al all have a vested interest in getting rich or at least stemming the tide...they all lie. Go ahead, trade against computers, government insider bankers and companies that are privy to information you won’t ever see. See where it gets you.

We've been in a recession since Zero took office.

I finally had a chance to talk to my wife last night about the status of the economy. She’s been so “in the trenches” with our little’ns that she hasn’t had the time or the energy to talk about it.

She was absolutely astounded about QE^infinity... printing 85 billion a month, over a trillion a year, “until it works”...

So, how many folks do YOU think have even an inkling of what this will do?

We are supposed to be ecsatic about a stock market that is back to 14,000+ now....it was there in 2008 before this asshole took office! I don’t know about you but 5-6 years of do-nothing progress isn’t ‘recovery’ it is losing that many years of your financial life!

After getting raped on growth for 6 years, I’m supposed to go out now and buy up all what I can at the high price and think I’m doing good? There are forces and people at work here trying to make the average citizen think it is okay now to ‘invest’ at top dollar and be happy about it.

The ones that benefit from this are computers, Obama bankers and brokerages. The same ones that gave you a GM riddled with unmitigated screwing of investors, honest people, etc. and gave you taxpayer buyout of GM green incompetence and Union Medical Insurance ownership of America’s former productive engine. Screw them all....NEVER will I consider anything GM again. Nor will I invest in a market so influenced by an Obama or Obama successor government.

Finally, the voice of Reason is heard in the halls of Capitol Hill.

It has been a while since we last heard it.

Agreed. Not a slap at Cruz, but rather an observation. Cruz is pretty safely aligned with the good guys on this.

I agree whether or not it throws us into a recession is entirely inconsequential compared to what it does to our liberty & healthcare system.

This abomination must be nullified and abolished!

They are playing the roll of hostage to Obama’s altmatimes and Obama is playing the roll of ineffective leader(to blame everyone else for the results of his own actions & inaction).

Rush is right, the RINO’s are playing for the compromise they think middle America wants, and Obama is trying to portray himself to everyone as wanting.

But Obama’s own action prove he has no interest whatsoever in compromise. Not only does he start the goal post to areas unpalatable to conservatives he moves it whenever RINO’s in the house give him everything he wants.

Obama gets away with his duplicity because his adoring fans in the media most of the useful idiots watch will never call him on it. And the low info-voters don’t have a memory or attention span in politics at all to recognize it. All they see is the headlines which will always be the same.

That means beating Obama requires getting those headlines to contract him, such as we did on the sequester, and we must do again with a Government shutdown.

You must learn to see opportunity in every situation no matter how grim it might appear to be.

In our present situation, there is great opportunity to exploit and educate for posterity the evil’s of liberalism. It is a fantastic opportunity we must not fail to take advantage of.

It would be nice to have someone like Sarah Palin in the white house but she would by her very nature never give us the opportunity to bash & make fun of the results & hypocritical of liberalism we have now.
