President Barack Obama is expected to call Friday for an energy fund that would spend $2 billion over 10 years to focus on research on “green” fuel sources for vehicles.
The proposal would be funded mostly from royalties the government gets from offshore drilling, administration officials said in a teleconference with reporters.
No additional drilling would be needed; instead, more money is expected from streamlining permitting process, increased production, and other proposed changes.

UTC Power in South Windsor, a business owned by Oregon-based ClearEdge Power, laid off more than half of its Connecticut employees, as part of a 39 percent cut in the company’s overall workforce.
Police stationed at the business on Friday for security purposes said they were briefed by the company, and 170 of UTC Power’s about 300 employees were laid off. At midday, there were no reports of incidents, said police spokesman Sgt. Scott Custer.
The cuts disproportionately hit the South Windsor location because most of the company’s mobile fuel cell division is located there. The overall cuts, Sager said, are part of a company pivot away from mobile fuel cells that run in vehicles. Going forward, ClearEdge plans to focus on stationary fuel cells.
Another slush fund for the unions and obamas to plunder for personal fortunes.

Look, it (GREEN) energy is called that not because it is environmentally better. It is called that because of the billions of GREEN paper funneled to well-connected “you-know-who” so-called executives.
Windmills, solar, unicorn burps, algae to name a few.
Obama doesn’t control the purse strings. The few Republicans we have left in Congress need to grow some balls and shut off the money.

As for green energy, I;ve talked ot many people who got solor panels, wind etc and most have said it was a waste of money.
