Gov. Martinez to attend Pope Francis’ inaugural Mass (others Biden, Pelosi, DeGioia)
The Albuquerque Journal ^ | March 15, 2013 | Dan Boyd

Gov. Susana Martinez [R-NM] will join a four-member U.S. delegation that will attend the celebratory Mass for Pope Francis next week, according to the White House.

Other members of the delegation include U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California and Georgetown University President John DeGioia.

Martinez’s office just released this statement from the first-term Republican governor:

“It is my honor to represent New Mexico and our nation as a member of the U.S. delegation traveling to Rome for the inaugural Mass for His Holiness Pope Francis. As a lifelong Roman Catholic, I feel deeply privileged and humbled to have the opportunity to meet the new pope. The Catholic Church plays a vital role in the lives of New Mexicans and more than 1 billion people across the globe. I look forward to congratulating His Holiness on behalf of my fellow citizens and celebrating the inauguration of the first Pope from the Americas.”

(And actually, I’m supposed to forgive Nancy even if she doesn’t repent. This is hard. It doesn’t mean I don’t hold her responsible for the wrongs and crimes she’s committed, but I have to eliminate my personal animus from the situation. Not easy one bit.... )

You should know what I wish on Obama and his wife. I'm going to get sucked down to hell then.

At a Mass the size this one will be, it’s unlikely the Pope himself would distribute Communion but that it would be done by a variety of young priests strategically located throughout the cathedral or the plaza outside St. Peter’s if it’s an outdoor Mass. I have a memory of the Bushes being at an outdoor ceremony, but that was probably the funeral Mass for JPII.

If everything I’ve read is true about our new Pope, these four should NOT receive the body during the communion procession. I hope Pope Francis starts making examples, I REALLY do!

It is not the Pope's job to render judgment but to try to evangelize and lead by example. In which case maybe he can somehow inspire this group of reprobates.

Palin is no longer Pentecostal, she is a non-denominational Christian.

Any serious pro-life Catholic would refuse to join a delegation that includes pro-abortion “Catholics.

I respectfully disagree. If I had the opportunity to go, I'd go in a heartbeat. I wouldn't travel with them. Or socialize with them. But I'd still go to represent faithful Catholicism in the US. Why should the face of dissident Catholics be the only US face presented to the Holy Father? It's not my role to shepherd these folks. The cardinals in Rome can admonish them about causing scandal--and should IMHO. But I wouldn't let the behavior of others rob me of a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Heck yeah, I'd go in a minute!

Serious, principled opposition to abortion—i.e., that treats pro-aborts with the scorn and disgust they deserve as mass murderers—does not (yet) exist in public life in America

Was it scorn and disgust that turned Abby Johnson prolife? Or any of the other abortion workers that 40 Days for Life has helped to leave the industry? I understand your point. I don't believe in rewarding proaborts, politicians or otherwise. But I'm not sure that scorn and disgust accomplishes a whole lot. It lets me distance myself and view myself as superior, but is that the way the Lord asked us to treat our enemies?

Peace be with you.

Actually, it is just the opposite. Pelosi and Biden are making an example of the Catholic Church, proving one can openly go against and encourage others, to defy the doctrine, and still receive the sacraments. Obama’ s invitation to Notre Dame was no different, except he isn’t a Catholic. He was honored by them, even though he supports the murder of unborns and was elected to do so by many “practicing” Catholics.

Are there no practicing Catholics in public life?

Rep. Chris Smith comes to mind.

I hope the Papal Swiss Guards distribute pictures of Pelosi and Biden to all of the Eucharistic ministers and priests who will be giving communion. They should be instructed not to give communion to those phonies. It would be a public scandal to give communion to them. They can get a blessing instead. I will be watching.

I love being Catholic! I pray for my dissident brothers and sisters. And for my own sinfulness. May God be merciful to me a sinner (Lk 18:13).

I distinguish between abortion-mill workers—who are often well-intentioned, and often convert—from cold-blooded, cold-hearted people like Biden and Pelosi, who are pro-abortion because they are cynics. How many pro-aborts in public office have converted to pro-life WHILE IN OFFICE? ZERO! This is just an indication of how thoroughly they have given themselves over to evil. They are much worse than abortion-mill workers. They are worse than some abortionists. Abortionists have become pro-life at a higher rate than pro-abortion politicians.

John 15:18-21

Follow our prayers for one month. Then get back to us RCers. You have no idea of what you speak. Go to http://dailygospel.org/M/AM/ ... this gospel readings are said everyday around the world. Also, the Liturgy of the Hours is prayed 24/7 throughout the world at http://www.universalis.com/...

This is our creed.
http://www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism/p1s2c1p7.htm

There is NO SIN that has not been defeated by the Cross. That includes Pelosi and Biden sins. We pray for their salvation and conversion daily. As should be done for all apostates.

We believe in free will, something that can be foreign to certain protestant denominations, as in pre-destination (calvin).
