Colorado Democratic Rep. Rhonda Fields, whose bill to ban ammunition magazines that hold more than 15 rounds ignited an ongoing firestorm of protest and which could cost the state jobs if a manufacturer of such equipment makes good on its promise to move to another state, didnt realize that her bill would outlaw practically every magazine currently for sale in the state.
Thats because the bill specifies that magazines that can be readily converted to hold more than 15 bullets will also be outlawed.
Practically every magazine on the market can be easily converted with readily available extenders, as demonstrated in a video posted by John Caldera, the president of the libertarian Independence Institute.
Caldera demonstrates the ease with which the standard 15-round magazine for his Glock 19 pistol can be converted to hold 17 rounds by removing the base plate and installing the extender. Practically all magazines have removable base plates so that they can be cleaned.

She said still supports the bill as drafted.
She created a law without understanding the consequences - but it's OK, because she meant well.
Not only that, but all existing magazines over 15 rounds become the property of the government upon the death of the current owner.
Rhonda Fields should be arrested and tried for violating the Second Amendment rights of Coloradans.
Wow, who knew.
You don’t have to be committed to the death of the Republic to be a Democrat.
But it helps.

Large capacity Magazine propaganda is a lie.

So it is okay if some crazed looney Ritalin-baked up privileged ADHD kid grabs momma’s Glock with 15round clip and kills 15 toddlers, it’s okay...just as long as he doesn’t get hold of one of them that has a 2 round extender on it.
What the hell is the difference between 5 round, 10 round, 15 round, or even a hundred rounds? These massacres work because no matter how you conjure, predict, or prevent (sizes), these crazies (and you must not forget criminal gangbanders and that mac-daddy 10 keepin his ‘hood’ real) find a way.
In short, they are unconventional and unpredictable. YOu cannot stop them unless you are prepared to make ammo and weapon production illegal, confiscate ALL guns, even the police and military and pose heavy heavy sentences (i.e., death) on violation.
Even then, this crazy little shit of the future will steal a school bus and drive it through the front door of a school at 90 miles an hour and trample dozens of children.
It is just not possible to predict.
Oops. Looks like they were wrong. Now they're reaping what they have sown. We'll have to wait and see if they've got the stomach for some payback in 2014.
Im just hearing about that now, she told the news station. Our focus was on the number of bullets you can put in a magazine.
She said still supports the bill as drafted.
I don't know when this 9News interview took place, but I was at the Capitol when this bill was being debated in the Senate committee. Several witnesses, including the owner of MagPul, testified to this very fact; that nearly all magazines would be considered "easily convertible".
Now, granted, Fields "serves" in the House and not the Senate, but if she is saying "this is the first she's heard about it", she's either lying, or she's incompetent at her job.
“Shall not be infringed”
thiS happens when you vote for democrats.
Well, incompetence and lying are certainly unusual for Democrats, right?
Sometimes you have to pass a law to see what's in it. < /pelosi>
They are highly competent liars, but I get your point.
Im hoping that people will just comply with the law.
Yeah, like they do now. Stupid cow! She gets to make laws, while future Madame President Sarah Palin is shut out. Welcome to Acirema, land of the backward.
We have a winner here!
Certainly this will also apply to all SWAT officers and other LEOs, too, if it’s fair for the sheeple.
No, they will have MRAP’s and drones, the better to cow the serfs.
“We’ll have to wait and see if they’ve got the stomach for some payback in 2014.”
2014 will be interesting. I just wonder if Colorado has reached the tipping point.
