Sen. Charles Schumer is calling on the cruise ship industry to adopt a "bill of rights" to guarantee passengers certain protections while aboard their ships.

The New York Democrat says Sunday he'll be asking industry leaders to voluntarily adopt the guidelines which include guarantees that ships have sanitary conditions, back-up power, medical staff and other standard procedures.

It might work for the eight hours that you are in the US seaport, but once they leave....that bill of rights is non-existent.

Simply speaking, the public needs to wake up and realize what you are signing up for...if you want seven days on a cruise-ship. It’s the same way when you say you want ten days in Mexico or in a resort in Thailand.

Well, I guess if you want to push 50% of Cruise ships out of the US and into Canadian, Mexican, and Carribean ports this would be a good start.

That is exactly why they are registered in Liberia and other countries to escape the Schumers of the world.

Wouldn’t it be simpler just for people to avoid Carnival?

Chuckie has absolutely no respect for the Bill of Rights in the U.S. Constitution. He certainly isn’t so much concerned about the rights of passengers as much as the ability of the government and courts to add more regulations to industry. Should be named as a Bill of Regulations.

I’d much rather avoid Chuck Shumer.

Drifting powerless on the open ocean walking in foot deep raw sewage with no food in a hurricane is far more preferable that anything involving Chuck U. Schumer.

And we wonder why all of these ships are flagged in foreign countries.

Chuckie needs to STFU.

Capitalism will solve this issue with no help from him or any other politician.

“Bill of Rights”

What an obscene appellation to be placed upon yet another government power grab.

And like any nanny-state fascist Chuckie wouldn't sit still for one bloody minute if it were he on the other end of his myriad of rules and regulations he wants they rest of us to be saddled with. I hate Leftists and Liberals. They are the biggest threat to liberty loving, free people everywhere. The only possible use a Leftie or Liberal could be would be as an organ donor.

Shumer is on to something but doesn’t completely know it.

The US can stipulate operational rules for any ship operating in US waters. US flag doesn’t make a difference.

Or Liberia or Panama. And God forbid you ever run into Muslim pirates or whatever ‘cuz it isn’t likely the US Navy is going to be coming to rescue you.

Well, in Chuckie Schemer world, we are simply too stupid to make these decisions on our own...

I know I was planning a spring cruise, I can guarantee, it will not be with Carnival...

If there was a kite caught in a tree and it happened to make the NY news as a “human interest” story, Upchuck would call a press conference to propose some program about kites. He really should have his own channel. But really, even then he wouldn’t be satisfied with the coverage. What a media ho!

“Well, I guess if you want to push 50% of Cruise ships out of the US and into Canadian, Mexican, and Carribean ports this would be a good start.”

One of the cruise lines attempted to use three US Flagged cruise ships in/around Hawaii. The cruise line said they were responding to requests to employ more US workers. Pretty well flopped since the crews were US union workers. Lousy service, surly crew members, etc. Had to
