Ever heard the claim that Latinos are "natural conservatives"? The person repeating the conventional wisdom of the Beltway apparently hasn't examined the evidence.
That's why, for Republicans, to buy that canard spells disaster. The most recent evidence comes from a new Latino Decisions poll. It shows two-thirds of Latinos support "comprehensive immigration reform" that includes special immigration privileges for foreign-born gays and lesbians.
Of those Hispanic respondents who favored giving homosexual couples the same immigration rights as traditional couples, 92 percent view it as important (very or somewhat) to make the change part of any amnesty bill in Congress.
While the Christian community has taken a stand to preserve the institution of marriage, Latinos who report being Christians don't agree with the traditional biblical view on marriage. Some 71 percent of Catholic Latinos and 53 percent of Hispanics claiming to be "born-again Christians" support gay spousal amnesty and visas, according to the poll.
The foreign-born Latinos were even more supportive of this position — 65 percent vs. 63 percent of native-born Hispanics.
Other surveys have found Latinos significantly more likely than the native-born to have single-mother households, use welfare, prefer bigger government that provides more services, and view free enterprise negatively. That doesn't sound exactly like a "movement conservative".
For liberal critics of amnesty and mass immigration this may not matter. But the Republican Party would wake up after an amnesty fling with open-borders special interests of all stripes to find they'd left them in the morning. The only thing to show for selling out their party's base is an even bigger Democratic electorate.
Latino Voters Poll: Same-Sex Couples Should Be Included In Immigration Reform
[snip]When asked whether same-sex partners should be allowed to petition for legal residency for a spouse, 64 percent of Latino voters said they would support such a policy, while 24 percent said they would oppose it. A strong majority -- 92 percent -- of those who support inclusion in immigration law said it was important that it be made part of reform.
Most Latinos who self-identified as Catholic or evangelical also supported provisions for same-sex couples. For Catholics, views were particularly pronounced when the survey asked about same-sex binational couples who were raising a U.S. citizen child. While 62 percent of Latino voters overall said it was "very important" that those children be able to keep both parents in the U.S., the ratio went up to 70 percent among Catholics.
Exit polling in November found that a majority of Latino voters -- 59 percent -- support state recognition of same-sex marriages, well above the 48 percent of voters overall who supported legalizing gay marriage in their state.

The poll found that a larger proportion of Latino voters — 63 percent — personally know someone who is undocumented, versus the 53 percent who said the same in 2011. Just over half of them — 51 percent — knew a friend without legal status in the United States and 6 percent knew a family member, while 39 percent knew both, Latino Decisions found.
Polling took place nationwide in mid-February and was conducted with 800 Latino registered voters

I remember them well.
There's no satisfaction in being able to say we were right and they were wrong, and that their ignorance helped bring the country right to the edge. Where we are today.

Embracing the false notion perpetuated by the open-borders lobby that the Party will continue to lose elections until it pushes amnesty, the Republican National Committee (RNC) today told its members they must support “comprehensive immigration reform.” (See Growth and Opportunity Project at p. 8, Mar. 18, 2013)
The call to support an amnesty agenda appeared in a report released this morning entitled the “Growth and Opportunity Project”. Commissioned by RNC Chairman Reince Priebus in response to the Party’s failure to win the White House or Senate in 2012, the report’s authors include Henry Barbour, Sally Bradshaw, Ari Fleischer, Zori Fonalledas, and Glenn McCall. (Id. at p. 1)
If Republicans fail to “embrace and champion comprehensive immigration reform,” the report warns, “our Party’s appeal will continue to shrink to its core constituencies only.” However, in making such a sweeping statement, the report’s authors neglect to consider the number of Americans opposed to amnesty who may either leave the Party or simply refuse to vote for Republican candidates as a result of such an about-face by the Party establishment. (Id. at p. 8)
Despite the fact that granting a reprieve to the nation’s 11-12 million illegal aliens will increase job competition for the 22 million un/underemployed Americans, as well as the number of individuals who are eligible for public assistance and ObamaCare, the RNC also claims amnesty will help grow the economy. “We also believe that comprehensive immigration reform is consistent with Republican economic policies that promote job growth and opportunity for all.” (Id.)
In issuing the report, the RNC appears to be taking its marching orders on immigration policy from President Obama. In a closed-door meeting with Republican lawmakers at the White House last Wednesday, President Obama told them they would benefit more from passing amnesty legislation than the Democrats. (Associated Press, Mar. 13, 2013) Only five days later, the RNC appears to agree, calling on its members to support “comprehensive” immigration reform.

You are right. Karl Rove and the Bushes are full of caca. Mexicans want free stuff and they always want to raise other peoples taxes. That is their “Viva La Raza” culture. California’s prisons are full of Mexicans. They are not in prison for picking lettuce. Mexican boys join gangs and Mexican girls get pregnant out of wedlock and go on welfare. TAKE A LOOK AT CALIFORNIA.
