The next casualty of sequestration could be the Easter Bunny – at least according to a White House e-mail that recently landed in Capitol Hill inboxes.
The White House warned Congress that budget uncertainties could nix the annual Easter Egg Roll for kids, which is planned for April 1.
“[B]y using these tickets, guests are acknowledging that this event is subject to cancellation due to funding uncertainty surrounding the Executive Office of the President and other federal agencies,” the White House cautioned, according to two Capitol Hill sources who provided the language. “If cancelled, the event will not be rescheduled.”
White House press secretary Jay Carney said last week that the egg roll would go forward, although he left open the possibility that that could change. (Update: A White House official said Monday that the egg roll is still going forward. More below.)
The administration has faced a backlash from Congress – and late-night comics – for canceling tours of the White House to save money as part of the $85 billion in automatic budget cuts, known as sequestration, that went into effect March 1. And there has also been criticism that the Easter Egg roll would go forward while the tours would not.
On Friday, Carney got into a contentious back-and-forth on Fox News and said the egg roll is for a lot of military families and it's paid for by the sale of ceremonial eggs and outside donations. "It’s a totally different budget," he said. "These are apples and oranges."

I didn’t realize Easter was a Muslim holiday.
The only people who gets into this event are friends of the current administration. Therefore, if Obama cancels the event, the only people he’s hurting are his own supporters.

I personally don’t care to see innocent children attend an Easter Egg Hunt presided over by the Prnce of Darkness.
Why don’t they hold their breath? They haven’t tried that yet.

Well ever since the Obama administration encouraged same sex couples with kids to celebrate on the White Hut lawn, it’s kind of lost any meaning it may have ever had.
And on April 1st? They aren’t fooling anyone. It’s not even a Sunday.
Looks like the White House is finding all kinds of ways to save money.
In a time of fiscal craziness, an Easter Egg Roll is an appropriate thing to cancel.
In fact, I would down scale everything related to the White House: dinners, trips, guests, repairs, staff, wages, aircraft, vehicles, could all be cut by 3/4 and the nation would not notice.

Come on I double dare you to cancel it and than go out a blame the republicans as it is their fault for sequestration that caused the military families and children to be denied a tradition. Do honestly think the American public is that stupiod to realize that the honored traditions that take place at the White House are being denied only because an idiot is in charge and wants to inflict some type of pain against the American People. We have heard for so many years that if the republicans do this or that social security checks will not be sent and so on and so forth. COULD CALL, I think an Easter Egg Hunt should be banned, private initiative can find ways if they want to keep it alive. This is the 1st thing Obama has done I have been in favor of. Wow, we’re in agreement.

I remember a story a few years ago that the Obama’s hated the White House tours and having to mix with regular citizens.
