Egypt’s justice minister warned Monday that the lynching of criminals in the streets by angry citizens is a sign of the “death of the state.”

On Sunday, vigilantes hung two suspected thieves in a rural Nile Delta village as a crowd of thousands watched, and some of them egged on the killers. Justice Minister Ahmed Mekki indicated that the killers may have seen themselves as implementing a strict form of Islamic law that calls for punishment of thieves and other outlaws whose crimes are so extreme, they disrupt society. …

The lynching of the two, who were also accused of stealing a motorized rickshaw, was one of the most extreme cases of vigilantism in two years of sharp deterioration in security following Egypt’s 2011 uprising. …

“death of the state” It’s the rise of a new state, one that actually may bypass the corruption of the current state.

From what I have gathered on various other websites, the Muslim Brotherhood version of “police” in Egypt were not showing much interest in investigating or prosecuting the perpetrators of a rash of kidnappers/pedophiles snatching and raping little girls about four years old.

A citizen “mob” caught the two suspects in the act.
And local citizens acted.

For that region, I'd call that progress...

The biggest sign of the “death of the state” was when it was taken over by the Muslim Brotherhood.

No one will be able to govern Egypt in the near future. They grew only half what they ate and used oil money to import the rest. The oil (and tourist)is almost gone and they are living on borrowed currency. Do you suppose some Jew like Joseph will come to their rescue?
