Remember that repetitive presidential promise to “cut the cost of a typical family’s premium by up to $2,500 a year”? As 2014 and full implementation of Obamacare get closer, it is crystal clear that won’t be the case. Obamacare’s most onerous insurance regulations will directly cause insurance premiums to skyrocket, particularly in the individual and small group markets. While there are many provisions that will increase premiums, two will have the most expensive impact:
Age rating restrictions. Obamacare limits variation in premium costs to a ratio of 3 to 1 based on age. But as Heritage research shows, “The natural variation by age in medical costs is about 5 to 1—meaning that the oldest group of (non-Medicare) adults normally consumes about five times as much medical care as the youngest group.” This means that under Obamacare, young adults will pay significantly higher premiums than they would have prior to Obamacare, and older adults will pay only slightly lower premiums.

My daughters who work saw their premiums go up 25%.
My medicare A/B went up 100%, D went up 40%, F went up 25%, my husband’s (he still works) went up 40%......sorry that is not a reduction in any world but the twilight zone.

Those certainly are substantial increases but are they Obamacare-related increases? I am still in my 50s (barely), so haven't looked closely at Medicare yet.

I feel your frustration, GTV. As it relates to health care though, the hypocrisy is stunning. Congress is forced to buy their plans on the exchange in 2014. But not Obama. He’s exempt from the law bearing his name. I read not long ago that we’re paying MILLIONS of dollars annually for the first family’s health care. And not one person in Congress has the guts to ask him why he won’t subject himself to this piece-of-crap law?

I received a letter from my husband’s insurer that said I was being removed because of obamaCare and I had to go on medicare (forced),
After the first year, these premiums went up and I was told because of obamaCare. Plan D is the drug program, not only did the premiums go up what they would cover was reduced. IE thyroid meds went from $3.00 to no coverage, because they were not considered medically necessary.
So YES, these increases are because of obamaCare.
My husband’s went up and the letter from the insurer said directly because of obamaCare, premiums up - coverage down.
What free test? I know they (obama lackeys) say that but what?
