Posted on 03/19/2013 5:14:10 PM PDT by Red Steel
Magpul Industries has adamantly opposed Colorado House Bill 1224 because it will not enhance public safety and will only restrict law abiding citizens from protecting their homes and families. Magpul strongly believes that Governor Hickenlooper should veto HB 1224 based on these policy grounds.
Recent reports also demonstrate that House Bill 1224 has a much broader scope than supporters intended or disclosed, as was argued on the Senate floor. Magpul retained the law firm of Holland & Hart LLP to review the scope of HB 1224s regulations. The results were striking. The report made the following conclusions:
1) HB 1224 restricts the sale, possession, inheritance, and transfer of nearly all firearm magazines, regardless of capacity.
2) HB 1224 bans the possession, sale and transfer of certain existing firearms.
3) HB 1224 will be virtually impossible to implement and enforce.
4) HB 1224, as written, would be one of the most expansive gun bills implemented in the United States.
Holland & Hart incorporated these findings into a letter to Governor Hickenlooper urging him to veto HB 1224. Attached is a copy of the letter sent to Governor Hickenlooper on March 15, 2014, with the primary conclusions highlighted in yellow.

Since when has a democrat opposed a very bad piece of legislation.
That’s what they do! That’s all they do!
Time to move to WY.
I’ve canceled my plans to move to colorado.
Now, Mr. anti-gun liberal, tell me again how they aren't coming after out guns!
It’s time for Magpul to put up or shut up.
Excellent choice. I going to WY and MT this summer. I was going to fly into Denver. I booked a flight to Salt Lake City instead. I am going to drive up to Idaho, then over to MT and back down thru WY on my way back to UT.
Welcome to Texas, folks.
I left Western Pa for Alaska 20 years back, no regrets, life is good. I couldn’t imagine living in Pa nowadays.
I had looked at Colorado as a possible future home, as well. No way that is happening with Kalifornication in full swing.
According to their public statements it looks like they are going to put up.
If I were 20 years younger I would consider the move myself.
Just ignore the whole thing and do not attract the attention of "law enforcement".
Not sure what people should do when they do eventually show up, but giving them empty magazines and firearms is always an option.
Yup, looks like the freakazoid liberals have turned Colorado into just another liberal shithole, but with mountains.
I’ve started calling him Hickenbloomberg.
It’s all grandfathered. I can keep and use all of my guns and magazines for as long as I live. By coincidence every gun and mag I ever own will have been magically bought pre-ban.
And when Magpul relocates to, say..Texas..they will of course need a new, local, law firm...
MagPul should pull out of Co. & come to FL. already!
Have you seen their latest press statement? They say the day the bill gets signed they will activate a plan to move the whole company out of state. Their stated goal is to have magazine manufacturing up and running in a new state in 30 days.
