(CBS) SANFORD, Fla. - George Zimmerman's defense team has deposed Trayvon Martin's girlfriend, father, mother and brother, case records say, according to the Orlando-Sentinel. PICTURES: George Zimmerman faces murder charge

According to the paper, Mark O'Mara, the lead defense attorney for the former neighborhood watch leader accused of fatally shooting Florida teen Trayvon Martin, took the sworn account of the victim's girlfriend last week.

The girlfriend is considered a crucial witness in the trial because she was reportedly on the phone with Trayvon shortly before he was shot by Zimmerman.

The 29-year-old Zimmerman is scheduled to go on trial in June on charges of second-degree murder. He has pleaded not guilty, claiming he acted in self-defense when he shot the 17-year-old in February 2012.

It is unclear exactly what Trayvon's girlfriend told Zimmerman's attorneys when they spoke with her last week at a Miami office of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, but according to the paper, O'Mara was expected to challenge her on certain statements she has made in the past.

The girlfriend, who was 18 at the time of the shooting, initially told prosecutors that Trayvon described a man who was following him and scaring him when she spoke to him over the phone on the night of the shooting. She also reportedly told Benjamin Crump, an attorney for Travyon's family, that she heard Trayvon and the man exchange words that night before the phone call disconnected.

According to the Orlando-Sentinel, the defense team may be trying to attack the girlfriend's credibility because she allegedly gave false statements about her age and why she did not attend Trayvon's funeral.

Trayvon's father, mother, brother and three other witnesses were also deposed by the defense last week, the paper reports.

No surprise here. Now that the professional race-baiters' sordid and repeated attempts at inciting a race-riot over a clear-cut case of self-defense has fallen apart, the story ceases to exist.

Or so they'd like us to believe.

What does "deposed" mean in this legal case?

As a side note, weren't Trayvon's phone records from that night erased from his phone?

All of this stuff that has been helpful to George Zimmerman’s case has been dutifully ignored by the in tank liberal Miami media.

The media wants riots because they are good for ratings and circulation.

It means to answer questions or make statements under oath. It is okay to lie to the media, the press, the public, investors, customers, contributors, voters — but even lawyers fear being put under oath to answer questions because it brings with it the legal penalty of perjury.

As far as the phone records for that night, the defense didn’t get them for that night and that night only. That could mean that they were erased, or never recorded, or that the state wants the defense to think that they were erased or never recorded. The latter most likely.

Did anyone besides me notice that throughout the article, the accused is called Zimmerman, but the dead thug is only referred to as "Trayvon©"?

This IS, after all, CBSObama.

The media wants riots because they are good for ratings and circulation.

The prosecution also wants riots to help them get a conviction and cover for their corruption.

They want to be able to justify their underhanded tactics to railroad an innocent man by claiming that, as dedicated public servants, they had to do it to prevent subsequent rioting and mayhem and protect the public.

It would not surprise me if the prosecution through its surrogate orders demonstrations and riots as the trial nears to pressure jurors and the public to see things its way.

If the state really wants to prevent rioting then the judge should allow Ben Crump to be deposed and be fully prepared to bring charges against him based upon his deposition. That would defang the credibility of the BGI.

The ball is in her court.

This wouldn't earn an inch of space in most newspapers IF Zimmerman hadn't been mistaken for a white man...

OR I could to totally wrong... - And this is the only case of a Hispanic man killing a black man in the last ten years... AND that's why it's a big story.
