At least we have seemed to solved the “stick them all in breaking news” problem.

Site hosting companies seem very eager ti turn over their logs to the government even without a warrant. I wonder if his lawyer could do the same to get a list of everyone who viewed his page in the days before this accusation was made. There may be laws preventing child services from turning over the phone logs even under subpoena, but I doubt that those laws cover Facebook.

No government agent should have the right or even the expectation of remaining anonymous when acting under color of authority.

“If you’re doing nothing wrong, you have nothing to hide, no?”

For once, a story like this has a happy ending. The home owner, who knew his Fourth Amendment rights, faced down the cops, ignored their threats, and kicked them out of his house.

Lots of lucky people here, who never had it close up with Child Protectors.

They might want to try posting some fiction to Facebook — I trust that is still legal? — with their kids’ photos (no kids? make some up) showing the little dears engaged in some legal activity with guns. Then sit back and wait for someone to rat them out to Child Protection Racket.

Experience is the best teacher.

Even if you don’t have kids, you will have an unforgettable story to tell, and possibly some scars and dead pets.

This current victim is a firearms instructor with a handy lawyer; he got his eyes opened less painfully than most.

In Kansas, until recently, the funding for the child protective agency was based on caseload.

It incentivized the agents to find ‘violations’ where there weren’t any.

Even where it doesn't specifically work that way, it does. If there is a large enough caseload, there is opportunity for promotion as new hires are added on. Not to mention all the 'counseling money' when those who can afford it (not on welfare) are told they have to attend anything form anger management to parenting classes and are told they will be footing the bill.

Another trick is to take the child to dentist, doctors, etc. and then charge the parents for the costs. If child support is involved, they'll take the money for all the programs and diagnoses from the check, which passes through the Social Services hands first.

The list goes on, but there is a scatload of opportunity for abuse of the virtually limitless power there, and that does happen.

My entire family rags me because I don’t post pics of my kids on the Internet and I don’t allow my family to post pics either. This is exactly why I have that policy. There is just no way to know what someone else might consider child abuse.

I have a libinlaw that is an example of what you’re stating - that anything could be reported as child abuse.

My kids were in a homeschool publication this month.
My MIL was looking through it and was appalled and nearly “outraged” that the girls were all dressed so conservatively.

I teased her by going along.
“How dare they dress like that! They look so wholesome! There should be a law against that!”

"They knew this, and the “social worker” ran from having her picture taken and would not giver her name."

This tells me everything I need to know about the situation.

Every see a "perp walk" and the suspect covers his face with his coat or hands etc.?

Same thing.

My BIL doesn’t allow his toddler son to have sugar. We have long-time family friends, with whom we are not speaking currently, who almost reported him to CPS because he wouldn’t allow his son to have a cupcake at an Easter celebration. No sugar = child abuse?

Kudos to you for homeschooling your kids and dressing them appropriately!

Kid has the right posture, finger’s not on the trigger, two hands on the gun, and is smiling. Why the alarm?
