And there was Santorum during his CPAC appearance, still not bashful about defending the Judeo-Christian moralview that is still shared by an overwhelming majority of Republican primary voters across the country. more here...

I pray conservatives get behind Rick. He is the most consistent conservative for our time. Absolutely not 100% perfect , but neither was Reagan. Just say no to the establishment! No to rhinos!

The Catholic haters on the right will resist him and the socon vote will split between him and Huckabee or Perry or whatever and we’ll end up with Jeb.

I wish it were not true, but the socons are their own worst enemy. And I speak as a socon.

He’s a boring white guy. I am tired of them. He’ll get less votes than Romney. A good conservative maybe, but I doubt he can win. I want someone who can win. Right now, Hillary is the frontrunner. I cannot stomach the thought of her after 8 years of Obama.

He doesn’t stand a chance in 2016, in my honest opinion. The field will be much more conservative than the 2012 field, with people whose social conservative credentials are as solid as his, which takes out his USP.

Can we not think outside the box with someone new, or are we destined to lose again? We desperately need black/hispanic candidates to split the racial vote. It is about winning, not about running the most honorable candidate.

Rick Santorum doesn't have a chance in Hades of getting elected President. Never nominate a candidate for the White House who has held no elected office since he lost his last race in his own freaking state.

He seems like a decent guy, but I don't think he's cut out for politics and has spent far too much time in government and inside the Beltway for my liking.

Santorum is simply not likeable and not sellable. He’s not a good conservative except on social issues, and he’s not the only Republican in America who is right on social issues. Think outside the box for a change.

Losing elections is an excellent predictor.

Rick Santorum is a loser. He is, in fact, a BIG loser, having lost a US Senate seat that he held in his home state by a landslide.

Like George Allen, like Rick Santorum, the number one rule of elections is STOP NOMINATING LOSERS.

Nothing personal, just business.

Santorum is a model pragmatist politician that plays the "conservative" card for votes and mouths all the conservative talking points but when push comes to shove he has lied to his constituents, supported liberals over conservatives, and would almost certainly lose his home state.

I'm amazed that people fall for this snake oil salesman time and time again. He's almost as bad as Huckabee.

We need to get behind a real conservative and we need to do it soon without the distractions of pseudo conservative like Romney, Santorum, Ryan, Huckabee etc.

Hillary simply can't win. She lost a Democrat primary to a Obama and no one had ever heard of him. Her negatives are huge. She will actually cause conservatives to come out and vote against her. Not to mention that Biden has already said he is running. If that is true I doubt Hillary will even run.

Mr. “nice guy milk toast” Santorum was the brat on stage during the debates. A ‘one-issue’ candidate is NOT what we need!

I want someone that follows the U.S. Constitution. I want someone that thinks that the U.S. is a separate sovereign nation, and not ‘just one of many among the U.N.’ I want someone that will tell the UN to pack it up, and move to Europe or Ghana. I want someone that knows what the real military is all about. I want someone that knows what an earned, not given, dollar in the pocket does for John Q./Jane Q. Public.

I didn’t want Romney. RON Paul’s idiotic ideas for foreign policy would have us done in.

The only two from the last series of debates, that had my interest, and my five bucks, were Cain and Gingrich.

The new blood, forged from the 2010 elections, might be Cruz.

Madame Sarah can do what she will, yet I figure she has more free reign, and NO ONE can shut her up, and open-minded and voiced, as we all SHOULD be, and is not beholding to anyone else, either.

I can look with favor to LTCol West, who took no guff from the Washington insiders. Mia Love is another choice. The US has broken the color barrier, and we can thank the media for that. Now, let’s use that!

Career politicians, (those that are excellent examples for term limits), still believe in “The Rite of Ascension”. We need to cut that cord, permanently.

We need to revert to ‘serving citizens who go back to the farm’, when they are finished. We need to rid the Senate and Congress of the Socialists and Communists who are there now, and their underlings and staff.

We need to return the control of Senators to the governors of the States.

I know some of this might be a bit more than you might be thinking about, but this is where I begin the thought process about Washington, D.C.

Rick's a good man, a decent conservative, but I doubt he is the most consistent conservative, nor is going to be our best candidate. His blow out loss in 2006 should give an indication he does not excite people to want to vote for him.

I voted for him in 2012 (actually preferred Newt), and now think had he been our candidate in 2012, he would have been blown out far worse than Romney.

I'm going to wait to see if we as a country can withstand the thrashing of the current administration, and wait to judge the 2016 primaries when (and if) they come along.

For all his well-documented flaws, that is exactly why Chris Christie has so much traction as a prospective nominee (even though I don't think he has any interest in a presidential run).

Everything about the guy just comes across as a winner who doesn't give a damn about what people think about him. You'll never see him stumbling around trying to explain some idiotic decision he made in the past. Not because he never makes idiotic decisions, mind you ... but because he never feels a need to justify himself to anyone.

Last week the media was pushing Jeb Bush and everyone here screamed "No!"
Yesterday someone floated a Huckabee balloon and everyone here screamed "No!"
Today Santorum gets mentioned and everyone here screams "No!"

Unless everyone gets busy and closes the primaries in the states that gave us Dole, McCain and Romney then all of this babbling about who's conservative enough won't matter because we'll end up with who ever the Beltway Dem-a-lites pick for us.

And if that's another sweater vest wearing, no executive experience, lawyer turned career politician from the north east with a questionable record then by golly FReepers will take that suppository, jump on the band wagon out of panic and waddle to the polls in 2016 and vote for him just like the last couple of losers.
