I was never there and I thank you for your service. But there is a lot of information available that says the AR15 was used, albeit not with much success.
In the early 1960's, U.S. Special Forces in Vietnam used the AR15 and it was given glowing reports. Although opposed by the Ordnance Corp, the Armalite AR-15 was adopted by the Secretary of Defense as the 5.56mm M16 rifle. In November 1965, the 1st Cavalry Division turned back North Vietnamese regulars in a savage battle in the Ia Drang Valley. LTC Harold G. Moore lauded the new M16 rifle his troops had used. "Brave soldiers and the M16 brought this victory," he declared.
Many elitist liberals want (and may need) the protection of guns though they are adamant in their arguments that we average citizens have no such need. Crazy Joe is no different in that regard.
Please explain to us why Big Sis is stockpiling billions and billions of hollow core plinking ammo rounds and distributing armored personnel carriers to domestic law enforcement agencies and launching private citizen monitoring drones. The enemy IS NOT the gun carrying American citizen, it IS the gun carrying Socialist American government. Let's just make it a fair fight!

I must have missed that one, but that does sound like something he would say.
The issue, therefore, is that the AR-15 was originally developed as a selective fire rifle with full auto capability. Which is considerably different than the semi-auto version that Biden mistakenly refers to as a “weapon of war”.
Biden needs to pony up evidence that the semi-auto AR-15 is really a “weapon of war”. Otherwise his claim is bullsh#t.
Altho, technically, black powder weapons are weapons of war ... The Civil War,The Revolutionary War, The War of 1812 ...
The AR-15 first tested in Vietnam was fully automatic.
I do not believe a semi-auto version like Lanza’s has ever been used in a meaningful way, as a ‘weapon of war’.

Fair enough. But it was an AR-15.
I would never own a fully automatic rifle because doing so has been illegal since 1934. But should I happen to possess a legally owned rifle that has been converted to fully auto it is still the same rifle. Of course, as I said, I would never do that because that would be illegal. :-)
Not only that .. but nobody seems to realize that the weapons were the property of the MOTHER. She was legally allowed to purchase such weapons. And, I might add, no registration form asks if you have mentally unstable people living in your home.
However, SHE WAS VERY CARELESS in handling her weapons, and she did not take the proper steps to protect those weapons from getting into the hands of her “disturbed” son.
I blame the mother .. not all normal gun owners. But, I’ve never heard one word in the press telling the truth about the mother’s lack of care of her weapons.
I also read that the mother told her son’s tutor, “... don’t turn your back on him ...”. What ..?? She’s afraid of her son and yet she still did not lock up her weapons from his reach ..??
I’m just amazed that nobody is talking about this .. but of course the dems/libs don’t want the public to discuss the truth, they want the public pointing fingers at gun owners, instead of an irresponsible mother.
Crazy Joe wasn't so much thinking about it as he was attempting to exploit it. The left is like that; they will gladly exploit any tragedy if they believe doing so will aid in advancing their warped, anti-Second Amendment agenda. See Piers Morgan.
I think most recognized Adam Lanza as being disturbed with at least some, namely his mother, believing him to be potentially dangerous. So yes, it is curious why someone who believed that about her son would leave weapons within his reach.
