Insurers: Health overhaul to hike some premium rates
Newsday ^ | 3/17/2013 | TOM MURPHY The Associated Press

Some Americans could see their insurance bills double next year as the health care overhaul law expands coverage to millions of people.

The nation's big health insurers say they expect premiums -- or the cost for insurance coverage -- to rise from 20 percent to 100 percent for millions of people due to changes that will occur when key provisions of the Affordable Care Act roll out in January 2014.

Mark Bertolini, chief executive of Aetna Inc., one of the nation's largest insurers, calls the price hikes "premium rate shock."

"We've done all the math, we've shared it with all the regulators, we've shared it with all the people in Washington that need to see it, and I think it's a big concern," Bertolini has said.

Everyone is and will see continued rate hikes. The Communist are claiming the usual “it’s not as bad as it would have been”.

We really do have some stupid people in America.

Another 100 percent?

And they had the nerve to call it the ‘Affordable Care Act’.

Liberals, nuts as they are, will fail to see a connection between a gargantuan across the board increase in health insurance premiums at the same time Obamacare kicks into full swing. I wonder if the Not-At-All-Affordable Care Act covers that mental condition?

Some??? My daughter’s employer tripled her premiums. She couldn’t afford it and dropped her coverage. She is 26. Imagine for “old” people like me!

if they triple my coverage, then I will have no choice but to waive my 80/20 ( I pay 20% ) employer HMO insurance and go to an exchange, which is, I’m sure, what they want. it’s either that or move in to a tiny lousy apartment for the wife and I. the money has to come from somewhere, and I ain’t rich.

What makes you think an exchange will be less expensive? It is, after all, a high risk pool... People will not need to sign up until they are sick.

Got involved with a gal at United Healthcare recently about benefits for someone in a high risk pool which, in essence, is a new type of exchange, who wanted to see one of my doctor clients.

Her words, “Be very careful. There are a whole lot of fingers in this pot and the supply of money available is very limited. When it’s gone, it’s gone and your doctor may end up not getting paid.”

So what we decided to do was to accept their insurance but they would have to pay the fee themselves up front of whatever the contract rate was for their service. Then if we get paid, we will refund the money. If not we won’t. Doc said if they cancel his contract because of this, “so be it”.

No poop Sherlock. That happens when you add freeloaders to any system that you have to pay for. This is all for the democrat voters that think we working people owe them a free ride through life. It’s also for the new democrat voter that are coming here illegally.

Would I prefer the “unwilling to work for a living” people not get medical coverage if I have to pay for it? Yes.

The Affordable Care Act(Obamacare) was designed to raise premiums. The left knows this.

The plan is to destroy private healthcare by any means necessary in order to implement nationalized healthcare.

The left are cunning as well as ruthless.

But, this is the only way that Nancy Pelosi’s daughter could have the security to pursue her dream of a career as a film maker, or something.

Mine went up over 20% this year. Between that and the expiration of the payroll tax holiday, I took an effective 4.5% pay cut, and adjusted for inflation—REAL inflation, including food and gas, not the BS they feed us as the “consumer price index”—my pay is roughly where it was in 2007, if that.

Thanks, Zero.

Obama pretty much stated that years ago. He mentioned in some group (may have been SEIU) that the complete govt takeover of healthcare would not be instant, but a gradual process. The stuff they put in place will just make it sooner rather than later.
