A shooting that prompted a lockdown for hours at a Marine base in Virginia ended with three dead early Friday, including the gunman, authorities said.
Sgt. Christopher Zahn said they were notified of the shooting at Marine Corps Base Quantico late Thursday.
One person was fatally shot, and the gunman barricaded himself into a room, he said.
Using a public address system, police announced a base lockdown as the shooter was holed up inside a building.

Usually the suicide murderer is someone coming off his umpteenth deployment who discovers his spouse has been unfaithful, and he snaps.

That’s what I said after the last Marine base “tragedy” this week.
Many here preferred to believe the AP headlines and talk about the Marines stupidly handling ordnance.
Big Media is already selling this as “another tragedy”.
Just another excuse for the Hater-in-Chief to lower our flag and go party.
One dead is a woman. Think some jealousy involved
as soon as i saw it i thought love triangle, and i have seen subsequently that that is what is suspected.
Further proof of the insanity of disarming everyone aboard a military base. All Marines are riflemen. If the victims had had a weapon available, this might have ended with just the shooter dead.
I don’t think your normal day worker type of military person wants to carry their weapon around with them all day, especially the ones that just sit at their desk. They have to be concerned with having a loaded weapon in their vehicle when they leave work to go home and pick up their kids at school or go to the grocery store. It would be a major pain in the butt.
There is nothing “Gay and Proud” in today’s Marine Corps. You don’t know shiite. The Marine Corps today is what it has always been. Very few Marines have “come out” as being gay. The culture of the Marine Corps is not conducive to it. I may be an old retired GySgt, but I still work with Marines every day, and my son is also a Marine. Nothing has changed. Do some research before you spout off.
