Colt's Manufacturing, the company that has made the iconic gun dubbed "The Peacemaker" for more than a century, could pull up its Connecticut stakes after coming under fire in the national debate over the Second Amendment.

President and CEO Dennis Veilleux said the pro-gun control climate that has taken hold in the wake of the Sandy Hook school massacre and other firearm attacks has left him feeling unwelcome in the state his company has called home for 175 years. Proposed laws being debated by the Legislature and pushed by Gov. Dannel Malloy include a new gun offender registry, an expanded assault weapons ban, ammunition restrictions and a ban on bulk purchases of handguns. Veilleux said those measures have put Colt and its nearly 700 employees in the crosshairs.

“Their labor costs would certainly go down outside of Conneticut.”

That’s what I was thinking. The business ships all over the place. Their sales will not go down. If they want, they can bring everyone who’s willing to come with them and I think that the workers will have a change of heart once they see what they can get with the same money elsewhere.

What is fascinating, the libtards are pushing the sources of their protection and policy enforcement, away, to areas that eventually will fight them, should this country come to arms, thereby, “shooting themselves in the foot”.

Strategic thinking, like economics, is definitely not their long suit. It's like the old joke about trying to argue with a liberal:

"Arguing with a liberal is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how logical you try to be, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, crap on the board, and strut around the table looking victorious."

Most of the NorthEast is beyond salvation. An occasional Lefty governor who flies under the voters’ radar is one thing - once he’s outed, he’s out.

When that same type of Lefty is repeatedly re-elected it is time to read the writing on the wall and depart. Once the spiral down starts, it rarely gets better.

I've been working with that myself. The question always ends up being:

If the family breaks up, who do you want to be with?

I got a lot of this sort of thing growing up and never had much say one way or the other.

What I learned is, I don't want to be with any of the family who can't handle money or I fight with over ideologies.

Let those prodigal children come home on their own. I'm going the other way.

If you don't want to stay where you are, there are resources, websites and books to help figure out who's better, by asking the important questions and showing how states and areas answer them. You decide the criteria and which are better than others.

Worst case places to be? All the ones you'd suspect now.

Like my carpool buddy used to say when we got off work, "Let's get the Dodge outta hell."

You said, “There are times when it is better to leave a burning house in an unfriendly neighborhood and build a bigger and better house in a more friendly environment.”

Exactly.

Chinese saying: “In the course of a long life a wise man will be prepared to abandon his baggage several times.”

No AWB or mag ban in Michigan

Yes, if they can shake of the Union mindset, many a good machinist here, many from the small shops out of work would be good candidates for Colt in MI....

Yes. Newtown in particular. I suspect these are the people who are NOT going to register their firearms like Malloy wants.

Their labor costs would certainly go down outside of Conneticut.

More importantly, their employees' standard of living will go up.

Texas, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, even western Pennsylvania, if they don’t want to go far. There are lots of great manufacturing sites available right here in Westmoreland County and PA is second only to Texas in the total number of gun owners in America.
