The government doesn’t deal with local distributors, they go straight to the manufacturers. Buy it in huge quantities, to tie up the factories making the the order. Small orders have to wait.....and wait.....and wait...........

3 days ago I bought three 20rd boxes of Russian Tulammo 76.2x39. They have a set limit of 3 boxes a day. I consider it a miracle that there was anything there at all.

I half am expecting to next hear rumors that the DHS is building “reeducation camps” in remote areas. With this administration you don’t need to be paranoid to think such things.

You can alloy cast wheel weights to make them suitable for any subsonic round. You can even use wheel weights to make good high velocity rounds with a gas check.

The problem is finding lead wheel weights. They are still legal in my state but most of the tire shops use the no lead variety because that is what their vendors supply now.

Even if you find a bucket of lead, you have to go through piece by piece to get rid of the no lead ones before melting them.

A real trajedy.

A few days ago I saw some of Baltimore’s finest load cases marked as handgun cartridges into the trunk, back seat and floor of the backseat of an unmarked 4 door sedan. A lot of ammo. They were about one block away from Downtown HQ just past lunchtime. Hmmmm.

A Resolution in the United States House of Representatives:

“That by stockpiling a vast surplus of ammunition for undisclosed purposes, the Department of Homeland Security has destabilized the ammunition market in the United States by creating an artificial shortage that has deprived both the public and law enforcement organizations throughout the US of the ammunition they both want and need for their own purposes.

“Therefore the DHS is directed to sell as surplus 1 billion rounds in its inventory at auction, in lots not greater than 100,000 rounds each to a single individual or organization, and which excludes any federal employee, contractor or organization. Furthermore, that this ammunition auction shall be at a price limited 70% of the cost of procurement and no higher.”

Local police chief went to a gun shop for some 9mm. Needed to qualify with his personal carry piece. He needed several boxes.
Shop owner would sell him 1 box.

It is supply and demand, people have been buying up ammo since 2008, there was a little lull in there when hope took over and they thought Obama wouldn’t be elected but that didn’t last long.

Around here the retired guys know when each place gets shipments and they are there and they buy them all.
Then you add in the government buying all that ammo and it gets pretty scarce,

I’m amazed the free market has not filled this void yet.

I would probably less amazed if I knew how much red tape an entrepreneur would have to go through to manufacture, sell and distribute ammo.

I’m sure there must be ammo makers out there who could put consumers first before they sell to government. Simply put government orders on the back burner for six months to a year.

The “this isn’t unusual” argument was working for me bec a few folks showed that large purchases have been made in the past and — at least on the surface — the math seemed to work.

But if cops can’t get ammo and gov’t officials REFUSE to answer...I’m not buying it anymore. Something really stinks.

I then proceeded to tell him...what about the hollow points? He said that was a good question.

I then asked him about the 2700 armored vehicles...and he said...he'd not heard of that.

This is the f’ing Twilight Zone!...Gee! I wonder if the lame stream media will report this?

I hope not. It's hard enough getting ammo as it is. Just imagine what it would be like if you racheted up demand even more by having the lamestream report it to the sheeple.

I stood in line for an hour this morning and couldn't get anything but some .22s for plinking. They sold out of 9mm about 6 people ahead of me.

Yes. .40, 45, 9mm, .223, 7.62, etc are out at most retail places. You can find some very expensive hallow point stuff and 7mm and other hunting only rounds. The retailers that have are selling it for nearly double what it was.
