Colt's Manufacturing, the company that has made the iconic gun dubbed "The Peacemaker" for more than a century, could pull up its Connecticut stakes after coming under fire in the national debate over the Second Amendment.
President and CEO Dennis Veilleux said the pro-gun control climate that has taken hold in the wake of the Sandy Hook school massacre and other firearm attacks has left him feeling unwelcome in the state his company has called home for 175 years. Proposed laws being debated by the Legislature and pushed by Gov. Dannel Malloy include a new gun offender registry, an expanded assault weapons ban, ammunition restrictions and a ban on bulk purchases of handguns. Veilleux said those measures have put Colt and its nearly 700 employees in the crosshairs.

I would like to officially invite Colt to my state.
Lots of potential employees, 2nd Amendment Aficionados, better Climate!
Our governor is a class A POS and I dont trust or believeanything he sez.He is an Obama clone.
I hope Colt bolts and most of its workeres are capable of moving with them.If they do the will look back on the move as a bleesing in disguise as this state is well on its way down the crapper
Can you officially invite all of us from Connecticut to your state?
>could pull up its Connecticut stakes
Could? If they are not actively in the process of moving by now, then there is no hope for them. They needed to leave as soon as CT proved they were stuck on stupid.
I would love it! You’all can come live in my apartment complex, and I’ll get a commission for each new tenant!
AND, I would just LOVE to pack the complex with FReepers! How cool would THAT be?
Not to mention the Seminole Casino within walking distance! LOL!
I am certain that Governor Perry has already directly contacted Colt’s management encouraging them to act like my ancestors when they went GTT. (Gone To Texas)
One of my ancestors was born in Texas during The Republic.
Colt has been in Connecticut a long time, but many here have that kind of tradition and the State Texas and it’s citizens truly love and appreciate firearms manufacturers.
Come join us.
“Can you officially invite all of us from Connecticut to your state?”
Not personally, but I think I could arrange for Governor Perry to do so.
His mother and father live 14 miles from me. I would be glad to personally request it.
Move all of them to Texas. This is great all the producers are moving to Southern Free States leaving takers in the Liberal states to go even more bankrupt. In the end this is Atlas Shrugged starting to play out.
But he'd "adjust," wouldn't he?
Alaska would be the perfect new Home for Colt..
Colt pistols first proved themselves in battle against the Commanche indians in Texas. The company would be most welcome here.
We’d all luv gun manufacturers here in Ak. Just too far from supply lines I do believe.
I’ll bet there are some southern states that would LOVE to have Colt. With Tax advantages, too!
Colt and others including the Ammo Manufacturers need to grow some balls and tell them if you pass a law restricting our rights to do business with American Citizens you better find another supplier of your Weapons and Ammo. Then stand by it. No weapons or AMMO to ANY governmental Agency in that state.
Then close the doors and MOVE.
Wed all luv gun manufacturers here in Ak. Just too far from supply lines I do believe.
Suppliers would be smart to move as well...
-OR- inventing new innovative and “smart” production techniques..
and inventory tactics... i.e. China is much closer to Alaska.. (cheaper shipping)..
